Abstract:
Described herein are one or more implementations for facilitating installation of software products. In at least one implementation, one or more installation databases (e.g., MSI databases) are stored on the computer-readable media (e.g., a CD-ROM or hard disk). The installation databases include data configured to be loaded onto a computing system when a software product is installed onto that computing system. Also stored on that media is one or more executable installation components (e.g., MSI installer) that, when executed, directs installation of the software product from the one or more installation databases. With this implementation, components of the one or more installation databases are stored on the computer-readable media in a defined hierarchical directory structure, which includes, at least, a root and one sub-level, the sub-level comprising, at least, two sub-directories
Abstract:
A system and method for providing a mobile handheld multi-media gateway and phone. Various aspects of the present invention may comprise a first communication interface module that is adapted to communicatively couple the mobile telephone to a mobile telephone communication network. A second communication interface module may be adapted to communicatively couple the mobile telephone to a computer communication network. At least one module may utilize the second communication interface module to communicate with the computer communication network to establish an independent network presence for the mobile telephone on the computer communication network. The mobile telephone may, for example, be established as an autonomous addressable device on the computer communication network.
Abstract:
A system and method for communicating with a second communication system utilizing a plurality of antennas. Various aspects of the present invention may comprise determining whether communicating with the second communication system utilizing a plurality of antennas in a first configuration, which comprises a beam-forming configuration, is preferable to utilizing a plurality of antennas in a second configuration, which comprises a MIMO or MISO configuration. If it is determined that the first configuration is preferable to the second configuration, the communication system may be configured to communicate with the second communication system by utilizing at least a portion of the plurality of antennas in the first configuration. If it is determined that the second configuration is preferable to the first configuration, then the communication system may be configured to communicate with the second communication system by utilizing at least a portion of the plurality of antennas in the second configuration.
Abstract:
A system and method for determining an information communication path based on energy requirements. Various aspects of the present invention provide a method that comprises identifying a plurality of information communication paths that may be utilized to communicate information (e.g., one or more units of information). A communication path identification module may perform such identification. Respective amounts of energy to communicate the information may be estimated for at least a portion of the identified plurality of information communication paths. A communication energy estimation module may perform such estimation. An information communication path may be selected from the identified plurality of information communication paths based, at least in part, on the estimated respective amounts of energy. A communication path selection module may perform such selection.
Abstract:
A video processing system receives a plurality of video inputs and specifically tailors them to meet the audio/video format requirements of a plurality of recipient video devices. The video processing system may be incorporated into a set top box, personal video recorder, video player, television, or video equipment. The video processing system in the set top box allows multiple users to receive video programs or television broadcasts meeting the audio/video format requirements of the recipient devices of the users. The video processing system allows user to define the audio/video formats of the recipient devices. Alternatively, the video processing system queries the recipient devices and obtains the audio/video format requirements of the video devices. The video processing system delivers multiple audio/video outputs, reformatted from a plurality of audio/video sources on the basis of user input, wirelessly in the operational region or by a wired means to a number of video devices. The processing itself involves transcoding the analog or digital input signals to produce analog and digital output video formats as needed.
Abstract:
In order to provide a turbine in which fir tree root or similar types of turbine blades can be inserted into the turbine shaft at an angle close to the axial direction without frictional blocking of shroud sections, each blade comprising a root for insertion into the shaft, along an insertion axis which is at an angle of not more than 30° the axial direction, an aerofoil section and a shroud section, each shroud having lateral surface sections comprising a contact surface section and a free surface section, the contact surface sections of adjacent shroud sections contacting one another, the free surface sections of adjacent shroud sections being spaced from one another. Each contact surface section lies at an angle of from 20° to 50° to the axial direction and each free surface section lies at an angle of not more than 30° to the axial direction, each contact surface section lies at a greater angle to the axial direction of the shaft than the corresponding free surface section. The contact surface sections suitably lie at an angle of about 30° to the axial direction of the shaft.
Abstract:
A process for preparing an alkoxylation catalyst suitable for alkoxylating compounds that includes mixing a calcium-containing compound in a dispersing medium having a boiling point less that 160° C. with a carboxylic acid and an inorganic acid or anhydride.
Abstract:
A channel selection canvas for display on a video display device is disclosed. The video display device can be a television, a laptop computer, or personal digital assistant device. The channel selection canvas allows a user to preview and choose video signals to be watched. The channel selection canvas displays a set of television channel video thumbnails, which can be full motion video, slow motion video or sampled video snapshots. A channel selection canvas can also display video thumbnails for security cameras, baby monitors, video phones and the like. A channel selection canvas generator that generates channel selection canvases is also disclosed. The channel selection canvas generator can reside within a television, set top box or similar video processing device.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing quality-of-service based network resource allocation and utilization in a dynamic network environment. For example, a wireless communication network may comprise a first system and a second system. The first system may provide a current service to a user at a current quality level. The first system and second system may establish a wireless communication link. At least one of the first and second systems may determine whether utilizing one or more resources of the second system will provide the current service to the user at a higher level of quality than the current quality level. One or more resources of the second system may be allocated for providing the current service to a user at a higher quality level. The allocated resources may be utilized to provide the current service to the user at a higher quality level than the current quality level.
Abstract:
A system and method for consumption-based bandwidth arbitration in a dynamic information consumption environment. Various aspects of the present invention provide apparatus, structure and method steps for allocating common communication bandwidth between an information presentation system and various information source devices. Communication between an information presentation system and the various information source devices is provided. A plurality of information source devices available in the dynamic information consumption environment may be detected, and a user may select various information source devices. Information received from various information source devices is presented to a user in human-perceivable form, and user consumption of the information presented to the user may be tracked. Portions of common communication bandwidth for communication between the various information source devices and an information presentation system are allocated based on the user's information consumption.
