摘要： A basket has a lattice-like section for accommodating individual used nuclear fuel in predetermined positions in a cask. The basket is made from aluminum composite material having good neutron absorption ability, excellent mechanical property and workability. The aluminum composite material is made by having, in an Al or Al alloy base phase, B or B compound with a neutron absorption ability and an additive element, e.g. Zr or Ti, for giving a high strength property, and subjecting to a sintering under pressure.

摘要： A hydrogen iodide manufacturing method which includes a step of producing aqueous solution of hydrogen iodide and sulfuric acid by causing iodine-containing aqueous solution and sulfur dioxide to react with each other in a pressurized condition. The pressurized condition may be of not lower than 0.1 MPa in gauge pressure. The method may further include: a separation step of adding iodine to the aqueous solution of hydrogen iodide and separating an upper phase containing sulfuric acid relatively to a large extent and a lower phase containing hydrogen iodide relatively to a large extent; and a step of producing hydrogen iodide by adding sulfur dioxide to the upper phase in a pressurized condition and extracting the produced hydrogen iodide to the lower phase.

摘要： A screw fluid machine includes a screw-shaped male rotor having formed helically therearound teeth and a screw-shaped female rotor having formed helically therearound grooves. The female rotor is engaged with the male rotor. A housing accommodates therein the male and female rotors. A working chamber is defined by the housing and the male and female rotors. Lead angles of the teeth and the grooves decrease from an inlet toward an outlet. An outline of each tooth includes a pair of first arc portions whose arc center is located on a pitch circle of the male rotor, and a second arc portion provided between the first arc portions. An outline of each groove includes a pair of third arc portions corresponding with the first arc portions, and a fourth arc portion substantially corresponding with the second arc portion.

摘要： A control rod for a nuclear reactor has a structure which is capable of suppressing expansion of a reduced-diameter portion of a neutron absorber in a radial direction under shocks applied upon every stepwise driving of a control rod cluster and which can ensure integrity of a cladding tube over an extended period. The control rod includes a cladding tube closed hermetically at both ends thereof by a top end plug and a bottom end plug, respectively, a neutron absorber loaded into the cladding tube and includes a reduced-diameter portion having a smaller diameter than the other portion, the reduced-diameter portion being disposed at the bottom end plug side of the control rod, and a hold-down spring for pressing the neutron absorber downwardly against the bottom end plug. A sleeve is disposed within an annular space defined between an outer peripheral surface of the reduced-diameter portion and an inner peripheral surface of the cladding tube.
