    摘要： The present invention discloses a hand-held terminal adapted for data gathering, data processing, and voice and data communication. Included is a housing which includes a front section having an exterior and an interior, and a rear section having an exterior and an interior, wherein the front section is hinged to the rear section. These front and rear sections may be disposed in either a linear, angular, or parallel relationship. Key means for entering information into the terminal and display means for displaying information are incorporated into the exterior of the front section. A low power frequency hopping transceiver is disposed at least partially within the housing for receiving and transmitting information via the terminal. Also included are scanning means disposed within the housing for optically reading information stored in coded information sets and battery means disposed within the housing for providing electrical power. Finally, a computer is included within the housing for processing information input and output the terminal.

    摘要： A mobile customer service station includes a console on a wheeled chassis. The console carries and houses a number of components which are used in merchandising operations to conclude customer purchase transactions. The items supported externally on the console are a printer for printing purchase receipts, customer credit charge agreements and records of transactions, and a magnetic card reader for reading information from a magnetic stripe of a customer's credit card. The console further includes a cash drawer. The operation of the printer, credit card reader and the cash drawer is controlled by a multi-function control unit located within an enclosure of the console. The control unit is electrically powdered by a self-contained power source which is preferably a deep cycle rechargeable battery. The console also houses a transceiver unit which under the control of the control unit is capable of interactive communication with a radio communication system. The radio communications system is controlled by a central computer and includes a plurality of portable data terminals which are coded to individually communicate with the central computer. The infusion of the customer service station into the radio communications system allows the data terminals to become data entry units for the mobile customer service station. The self-contained power source and the transceiver permit the customer service station to be moved to merchandising locations of temporary peak customer activity without the expense or time requirements of first having to install electrical services.

    摘要： In the case of a pizza home delivery system, customer addresses and mapping information may be auomatically retrieved and displayed based on customer telephone number, and order data including an assigned order number may be imprinted on a label to be attached to each pizza container. Preferably, the system produces the order number in the form of a bar code on an adhesively backed label. Each driver may check out order for delivery by inserting his coded identification key at a bar code reader station and having the bar code labels scanned into the system, so that each order is assigned to a particular driver in a reliable and accurate manner. A voice synthesizer unit at the station can then remind the driver that the order includes beverages or more than one pizza container, and can advise the driver when the sum of the cash payments he has received for his deliveries exceeds a certain amount, making it advisable to deposit some of the accumulated cash before the next delivery. The system is modular and readily expanded to a multi-store system with a centralized telephone order entry station.
