摘要： A coin handling device comprises a hopper and an escalator for receiving coins from the hopper. The escalator is connected to the hopper and extends upwardly from the hopper. At least a portion of the escalator is downwardly foldable toward the hopper to reduce an overall height of the coin handling device. The reduced height facilitates removal of the coin handling device from a gaming machine cabinet and installation of the coin handling device into the cabinet in the event the cabinet provides minimal clearance.

摘要： A reel assembly for a gaming machine includes a reel structure adapted for rotation about a motor output shaft. A drive lever is adapted for connecting the output shaft to the reel structure at a point radially spaced from the output shaft to provide a resilient, radially extending coupling between the output shaft and the reel structure. The drive lever is of sufficient length to allow flexing thereof and is capable of storing energy at the start of rotation to cause the reel structure to be suddenly rotated by the restored energy. The drive lever has a terminal end mounted to said reel structure in a manner that prevents tangential movement of said terminal end relative to said reel structure. Thus, the drive lever flexes when the output shaft starts to rotate until the inertia of the reel structure is overcome, whereupon the drive lever returns to its initial shape and causes rotation of the reel structure, thereby reducing the start-up torque and power required to overcome the inertia of the reel structure.

摘要： The present invention is a coin sorter apparatus for sorting a group of mixed coins by denomination and immediately terminating the sorting process in response to a predetermined operating condition, such as the filling of a coin receptacle with a predetermined number of coins. Sorting is provided by a stationary sorting head and a rotatable disc positioned sufficiently proximate to one another so that when the group of mixed coins are dropped into the center opening of the stationary sorting head, they are rotated by the rotating disc and guided by the sorting head on a outward spiral sorting path to exit channels along the periphery of the stationary sorting head. Each of the exit channels acts as an exit chute for a particular coin denomination by releasing pressure on that particular coin and freeing the coin to move outwardly along the exit channel and exit into a coin receptacle. At the moment of the predetermined operating condition, a braking mechanism immediately stops the rotation of the rotatable disc, and the coins within an exit channel exit through the exit channel due to the inertia of the coins.

摘要： A coin sorter have a rotatable disc means for rotating the disc, a stationary sorting head having a feed opening for receiving coins to be sorted, and a lower surface parallel to the upper surface of the rotatable disc and spaced slightly therefrom, the lower surface of the sorting head forming an annular recess for receiving coins passing beneath the inner edge of the sorting head, a spiral channel for guiding those coins radially outwardly as the coins are carried along the lower surface of the sorting head by the rotating disc, the lowermost surface of the sorting head forming a region between the inlet end of the spiral channel and the annular recess so that coins traversing the region are pressed into the resilient pad, the lower surface of the sorting head also forming a ramp where the outermost wall of the annular recess meets the region for pressing coins whose outer edges are close to the outer wall into the resilient pad, the outer wall of the annular recess extending radially inwardly from the inner edge of the ramp for recirculating coins which do not engage the ramp.

摘要： An improved coin sorter sorts coins of at least a first and second denomination according to their denominations. The first coin denomination defines coins which are thicker and wider than the coins of the second denomination. The coin sorter includes a rotatably mounted coin carrying disk having a resilient surface onto which coins may be fed, a mechanism for rotating the coin carrying disk, and a guideplate having a central opening in a configured surface positioned closely adjacent to the disk and over the resilient surface. The configured surface includes an inner recess area for receiving coins of all denominations from the central opening and for allowing those coins to move radially outward. The configured surface further includes a channel area, responsive to the outwardly moving coins, having a width wider than the width of the coins of the first denomination and a depth and opposing walls arranged and constructed such that nonstacked coins of the first and second denominations are respectively guided along and converged from the opposing walls into a single file stream to a common radial location. A sorting mechanism is disposed around the outer periphery of the guideplate for receiving the single file stream of coins and for sorting the coins in the stream according to their respective denominations. Various recesses are included in the disc for alleviating problems resulting from coins becoming stacked.

摘要： A coin sorter comprises a rotatable disc having a resilient surface for receiving mixed denomination coins and imparting rotational movement to the coins, and a drive motor for rotating the disc. A stationary guide plate having a contoured surface is spaced slightly away from and generally parallel to the resilient surface of said rotatable disc; the guide plate includes an area for queuing the coins on the disc into a single file of coins, and a guiding edge which engages selected edges of the coins in the single file and guides the coins along a prescribed path where the positions of the engaged edges of the coins are determined by the diameters of the respective coins. A sorting area discriminates among coins of different denominations and selects coins of different denominations for discharge from the rotating disc at different locations around the periphery of the guide plate. The sorting area includes at least two different selectors for a prescribed coin denomination for discharging coins of that prescribed denomination at two different locations around the periphery of the guide plate. A controllably atuatable shunt is associated with the first of the two different selectors for shunting coins of the prescribed denomination past the first of the two different selectors to the second of the two different selectors so that the coins are discharged at the second of the two different locations.

摘要： A switchable transmissive display for a gaming system has an underlying display mode and a full video mode. The switchable transmissive display includes a first underlying display and a second display overlaying the first display. The second display includes a transmissive liquid crystal panel, a backlight assembly and a switchable diffuser film layer. The backlight assembly includes a transmissive aperture behind which the first underlying display is positioned. The second display also includes a supplemental backlight directed at the aperture. The second display has a first mode where the switchable diffuser film layer is transparent to allow viewing the first display and a second mode where the switchable diffuser film layer is translucent to obscure the transmissive aperture and an image is displayed. The switchable diffuser film layer distributes light to provide substantially homogeneous light intensity across the back of the transmissive liquid crystal panel.
