摘要: Provided herein is a resin composite material containing graphite fiber which has good electrical conductivity and changes only a little in electrical resistance after processing. These desired properties are achieved by incorporating a synthetic resin matrix with a specific type of graphite fiber. The graphite fiber has a structure characterized by that the hexagonal network planes of carbon atoms are oriented substantially parallel to the fiber axis and like the annual ring. It is produced by bringing a hydrocarbon compound into contact, at a high temperature, with a metallic catalyst in the form of ultrafine particles to yield carbon fiber grown in the gas phase, and subsequently graphitizing thus obtained carbon fiber.

摘要: A gas-filled discharge tube for voltage control particularly for the series gap of the ignition system of an automotive spark-ignition engine. The gas-filled discharge tube is capable of operating stably at a sufficiently high discharge inception voltage, requires a sufficiently low discharge sustaining voltage and is capable of accurately controlling the ignition timing of the automotive spark-ignition engine regardless of the variation of the output voltage of the ignition coil of the ignition system. The gas-filled discharge tube is provided with discharge electrodes meeting requirements that the opposite surfaces of the discharge electrodes are substantially flat, the discharge electrodes have no sharp edge, and the product of the diameter of the discharge electrodes and the distance between the discharge electrode is 20 mm.sup.2 or below. The gas-filled discharge tube is filled with a mixed gas having a composition of 50% by volume or below in nitrogen content and 50% or above in argon content.

摘要: A lean burn internal combustion engine wherein a basic fuel amount is calculated from a map based on the intake pressure and the engine speed, and a lean correction factor, which is multiplied by the basic fuel amount, is calculated from a lean map based on the intake pressure and engine speed. A second lean map based on the throttle opening and engine speed is provided for obtaining a lean correction factor when the degree of opening of the throttle valve is larger than a predetermined value. A lean sensor is provided for obtaining a signal indicating the air fuel ratio for carrying out a feedback control. The lean sensor is provided with a heater for controlling the temperature of the sensing element of the heater. A basic map for the heater power, which is based on the intake pressure and engine speed, is provided, and a correction map for the heater power is provided for reducing the heater power from the value obtained from the basic map when the lean map based on the intake pressure and engine speed is employed for obtaining the lean air-fuel mixture, to prevent thermal damage to the sensor element.

摘要: An automatic speed control apparatus for controlling the running speed of a vehicle at a constant set speed includes an auxiliary intake passage providing direct communication between portions of a main intake passage upstream and downstream from a throttle valve so as to bypass the throttle valve, an auxiliary intake air valve adapted for controlling the flow rate of air in the auxiliary intake passage, and a fuel supply cut-off means for suspending the supply of fuel to the engine from a moment at which a fuel supply cut-off condition is met, which requires the throttle valve to be set at the minimum opening position and the engine speed to be higher than a predetermined fuel supply cut-off engine speed, until the moment at which a predetermined fuel supply recovery condition is met. An actuator for actuating the throttle valve is controlled so as to vary the degree of opening degree of the throttle valve and enable the vehicle to run at the constant set speed. The auxiliary intake air valve is controlled in such a manner that the flow rate of air in the auxiliary intake passage is reduced before the fuel supply cut-off condition is met during motion of the vehicle under the control of the automatic driving apparatus. The rate of fuel supply to the engine has therefore been reduced before the fuel supply is actually cut-off so that the amount of change in the engine output torque and, hence, the level of shock produced by the change in the engine output torque are reduced when cut-off of the fuel supply is executed.
