Abstract:
The present invention relates to a perfume-free odor absorbing composition, which is safe for use on skin comprising from about 0.1% to about 5%, by weight of the composition, of solubilized, water-soluble, uncomplexed cyclodextrin; from about 0.1% to about 36%, by weight of the composition, of an oil phase selected from the group consisting of emollients, moisturizers, skin protectants, and mixtures thereof; one or more surfactants each having a hydrophilic/lipophilic balance of about 8-18, and wherein each surfactant, when combined with an aqueous cyclodextrin solution, provides no less than about 25% a level of odor capture as an aqueous cyclodextrin solution; and an aqueous carrier. The odor absorbing compositions of the present invention may also contain an effective amount of hydrophobic antimicrobials.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to liquid and solid biodegradable fabric softener compositions combined with highly enduring substantive perfume compositions. These enduring perfume compositions comprise at least about 70% of enduring perfume ingredients. These compositions provide better perfume deposition on treated fabric, and consequently are not substantially lost during the rinse and drying cycle for less impact on the environment. Also, these perfumes improve the physical stability of the softener composition.
Abstract:
An effective amount of active/cyclodextrin complex, in the form of particles having particle sizes below about 12 microns, is incorporated into solid consumer product compositions. The complexes provide fast release of the active when they are wetted even when the amount of water available to effect release of the active is limited as in personal use compositions like drugs, foods, and cosmetics where active release is typically effected by body fluids. Preferred actives include perfumes, flavors, and pharmaceutical materials that are used by consumers.
Abstract:
Personal treatment compositions including cleansing and/or cosmetic compositions are disclosed, the cleansing compositions, for example, comprising from about 0.001% to about 10%, preferably from about 0.005% to about 6%, enduring perfume; from about 0.01% to about 95% surfactant system; and the balance carrier. The enduring perfume provides a lasting olfactory sensation thus minimizing the need to use large amounts. Preferred compositions are liquid and comprise water as a carrier.
Abstract:
Improved solid particulate, granular fabric softening compositions contain biodegradable cationic ester fabric softener actives, especially quaternary ammonium softeners containing two long hydrophobic chains interrupted by ester linkages, and acidic pH modifier, in an effective amount to provide a pH, when the particulate compositions are diluted with water to make liquid softener compositions, of from about 2 to about 5. The solid particulate, granular fabric softening compositions, when added to water, form chemically stable dilute, or concentrated liquid, softener compositions.
Abstract:
Cyclodextrin complex is suspended in polyalkylene glycol carrier material that does not displace the included material. The preferred perfume/cyclodextrin complexes, either alone or admixed with solvent (e.g., water), are preferably suspended in the carrier and then incorporated into solid, dryer-activated, fabric treatment (conditioning) compositions, preferably containing fabric softeners, more preferably cationic and/or nonionic fabric softeners. The perfume complexes provide fabrics with perfume benefits when they are rewetted after drying. Volatile perfume materials, including those materials that are commonly associated with "freshness" can be applied to the fabrics in an effective way.
Abstract:
Fibrous cellulose materials useful in the manufacture of soft, absorbent paper products such as paper towels, facial tissues, and toilet tissue are disclosed. The paper products contain a biodegradable chemical softening composition comprising a mixture of a biodegradable quaternized ester-amine compound and a polyhydroxy compound. Preferred biodegradable quaternized ester-amine compounds include diester dialkyldimethylammonium salts such as the diester ditallow dimethyl ammonium chloride, diester di(touch hydrogenated) tallow dimethyl ammonium chloride and diester di(hydrogenated) tallow dimethyl ammonium chloride. Preferred polyhydroxy compounds are selected from the group consisting of glycerol, and polyethylene glycols and polypropylene glycols having a weight average molecular weight from about 200 to 4000.The biodegradable chemical softening compositions are prepared by first mixing the biodegradable quaternized ester-amine compound into the polyhydroxy compound at a specific temperature range wherein the polyhydroxy compound is miscible with the biodegradable quaternized ester-amine compound and then diluting the mixture with water at an specific temperature and pH range to form an aqueous vesicle dispersion suitable for treating the fibrous cellulose material.
Abstract:
Fabric softening compositions, preferably in liquid form, for use in the rise cycle of home laundry operations are improved by: (a) using certain protected water sensitive materials, especially particulate complexes of cyclodextrins and perfumes, which are protected in fabric softening compositions and/or detergent compositions, by e.g., imbedding said particulate complex in relatively high melting protective material that is substantially water-insoluble and, preferably, non-water-swellable and is solid at normal storage conditions, but which melts at the temperatures encountered in automatic fabric dryers (laundry dryers); (b) using soil release polymers to help suspend water-insoluble particles in aqueous fabric softening compositions: and/or (c) preparing the said protected particulate water sensitive materials (complexes) by melting the said high melting materials, dispersing the said particulate complexes, or other water sensitive material, in the molten high melting protective material and dispersing the resulting molten mixture in aqueous media, especially surfactant solution or aqueous fabric softener composition, and cooling to form small, smooth, spherical particles of the particulate complexes, or other water sensitive material, substantially protected by the high melting material.
