Abstract: A system includes an updated network function and a consumer network function. The updated network function includes a recent update and is configured to register at a Network Repository Function (NRF) using a Network Function (profile (NF profile). The NF profile indicates a network function type (NF type) and a first priority associated with the update. The consumer network function is configured to: receive a message from a network component; determine to engage a service of a network function of the NF type based on the message; determine a desired priority for the service; and send a discovery request to the NRF in response to the message; receive a search result from the NRF in response to the discovery request. The search result has a list of candidate network functions of the NF type.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for network slice selection during an initial connection. A wireless station receives, from a core network device, network slice data for each network slice available via the wireless station, wherein the network slice data includes a slice identifier and corresponding slice characteristics for each network slice. The wireless station receives, from a user equipment (UE) device, a registration request message that indicates a network slice characteristic required by an application being executed on UE device. The wireless station selects, based on the network slice data from the core network device and the network slice characteristic from the UE device, one of the slice identifiers for servicing the UE device.

Abstract: A network repository function (NRF) device may receive first locality and priority information concerning a first network function device from the first network function device and may receive second locality and priority information concerning a second network function device from the second network function device. The NRF device may update a data structure based on the first locality and priority information and the second locality and priority information. The NRF device may receive a query concerning a locality from a third network function device and may search the data structure based on the query to identify network function device information associated with the locality. The NRF device may send the network function device information to the third network function device.

Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are described in which an scheduling service is provided. The scheduling service includes calculation of a priority value, on a per end device basis, based on throughput information and tuning parameter values. The priority value may also be calculated based on a radio access network slice weight. The scheduling service may calculate a schedule for transmission of data to an end device based on the priority value, available network resources, and a quality of service profile associated with a quality of service flow of the end device.

Abstract: An improved method and system of optimizing handling and sending of reachability notifications for a UE is disclosed. Solutions and implementations disclosed provide an efficient mechanism for determining the timing and duration of reachability periods for a UE and as a result predicting future reachability periods. This enables sending of one notification with sufficient information to inform the network of the time periods during which the UE is reachable instead of sending a notification each time the device becomes reachable.

Abstract: Systems and methods described herein provide stateless network functions for a wireless core network. A network device in the wireless core network receives, from a network function instance in a set of network function instances, context information and state maintenance parameters for an end device. The state maintenance parameters include one or more timer values for the end device, and an action to be performed upon expiry of the one or more timer values. The network device stores the context information and the state maintenance parameters, and applies the state maintenance parameters to the context information for the end device. The network device performs the action when expiry of the one or more timer values is detected.

Abstract: A device may receive streaming information associated with one or more user devices, streaming content being provided to the one or more user devices, and a cell associated with the one or more user devices. The device may determine a quantity of user devices receiving the streaming content in the cell based on the streaming information. The device may determine whether the streaming content is being provided using a unicast stream or is being provided using a multicast stream. The device may determine to switch from the unicast stream to the multicast stream or from the multicast stream to the unicast stream based on the quantity of user devices. The device may switch from the unicast stream to the multicast stream, or the multicast stream to the unicast stream based on determining to switch.

Abstract: Techniques described herein may allow for the selective enabling and/or disabling of shared access points (“SAPs”). The selective enabling and/or disabling may occur based on the analysis of key performance indicators (“KPIs”) associated with the SAPs. The selective enabling and/or disabling may cause the SAPs to cease (or continue) broadcasting their availability for User Equipment (“UEs”) of a particular wireless provider, decline (or accept) bearer requests for UEs of the particular wireless provider, or terminate existing connections with UEs of the particular wireless provider. The selective enabling and/or disabling may be performed for certain applications or Quality of Service (“QoS”) levels. The selective enabling and/or disabling may be performed proactively (e.g., without necessarily determining that the performance for a given SAP has not met a threshold performance), based on historical trends.

Abstract: A device may determine that a user device, connected to a first packet data network gateway (PGW) associated with a first area, is located in a second area associated with a second PGW. The first PGW may be associated with a provider network. The second PGW may be associated with the provider network. The user device may not be connected to the second PGW. The device may cause the user device to be disconnected from the first PGW and connected to the second PGW. The user device may remain connected to the provider network when disconnecting from the first PGW and connecting to the second PGW.
