Abstract:
The invention relates to a spoked wheel that includes a peripheral rim, a central hub, and individual connecting spokes between the rim and the hub, the spokes being taut. The wheel includes an arrangement for adjusting the tension of at least some of the spokes, and the spokes are taut with an initial tension Ti corresponding to a normal tension value Tn which is reduced by a value corresponding to a compression force R that can be supported by each spoke. For a rear wheel, the spokes supporting the compression forces are those arranged on the side opposite freewheel.
Abstract:
A bicycle rim is provided with an annular tire mounting part, an annular spoke mounting part and a pair of side walls. The annular tire mounting part includes an outer bridge. The annular spoke mounting part includes a plurality of spoke openings disposed at predetermined intervals along a circumferential direction of the annular spoke mounting part. The annular spoke mounting part further includes at least one recess disposed in an area between two adjacent ones of the spoke openings. The at least one recess extends less than half of a circumferential distance between the two adjacent ones of the spoke openings. The side walls extend radially from the annular spoke mounting and the outer bridge to define an annular interior space. The outer bridge includes a through hole that at least partially aligns with the at least one recess as viewed in a radial direction of the bicycle rim.
Abstract:
An improved connecting system for a vehicle wheel spoke, including a spoke having an end portion, a span portion and a cross-section thereof, a connecting element; a bracing element such as a rim or hub, a tensile axis of applied tensile load along the span portion, and a longitudinal axis along the spoke. The connecting element is made of hardened molding material and the spoke is overmolded by the connecting element during solidification of the hardened molding material. The connecting element is joined to the spoke at an overmolded interface and the connecting element is connected to the bracing element.
Abstract:
A tensile connector assembly comprising a longitudinal tensile element having a longitudinal axis, an end portion and a cross-section, a connecting element connected to the longitudinal tensile element, and a bracing element connected to the longitudinal tensile element. With a tensile axis of applied tensile load along said longitudinal tensile element. Where the longitudinal tensile element is anchored to the bracing element and the connecting element is connected to the longitudinal tensile element via a welded connection at a welded interface. Where the connections permit the longitudinal tensile element to support said tensile load along the tensile axis.
Abstract:
A spoked wheel for a bicycle includes a rim, a hub, a plurality of spokes tensioned between the rim and the hub, each provided with a spoke attachment element for attachment to the rim, a plurality of seats, such seats being openings formed in the rim, each for housing one of said spoke attachment elements. The shape and size of the spoke attachment elements and of the seats of the rim are such that: the spoke attachment element is suitable for taking up a first configuration in which its insertion through the seat is possible; and the spoke attachment element once inserted in the seat assumes a second configuration in which it is not possible to remove the spoke attachment element through the seat.

Abstract:
A wheel for a bicycle comprising a rim and having a hub comprising a fixed hub axle and a hub body rotatably mounted relative to the hub axle, and having a plurality of spokes disposed between the hub body and the rim to non-rotatably connect the rim with the hub body. The rim comprises two rim flanks, a rim well and a rim base with spoke holes, at which the spokes are received. A separate holding member is disposed in each spoke hole, which together with a spoke nipple received at the holding member can be passed through the spoke hole in a tilted position, while in a tilted-back position it contacts the rim and is received therein to be tension-proof so as to fix the spoke to the rim. The spoke holes comprise an elongated shape in the peripheral direction of the wheel and the holding member and the spoke nipple are configured so as to allow an angularly variable orientation of the spoke relative to the rim. To this end the nipple head is configured rounded and is received in a nipple head seat of the holding member which is configured rounded.
Abstract:
A rim for a spoked bicycle wheel is disclosed that has a change of radial section of the side walls. Through changes of symmetry/asymmetry with respect to a middle plane and/or changes of radial extent, it is possible to improve the performance of the rim in terms of balance, camber angles and/or strength. Preferably, the radial section is variable, still of constant area along the circumference, apart from apertures for the attachment of spokes and possible openings for the passage of nipples. A process for manufacturing a rim for a bicycle wheel is also described, comprising hydroforming a tubular extruded piece to locally change the section of the side walls.
Abstract:
A weight reduction means for a dual-wall rim includes a structural frame disposed in the rim, multiple through holes to receive insertion of respective spoke connectors being disposed at where the dual-wall frame is located relatively to the spoke connectors; and one or a plurality of through holes between any abutted existing through holes on the dual-wall frame being punched at the same time when those existing through holes are initially punched without affecting the structural strength of the entire dual-wall rim without changing locations and numbers of those spoke connecting holes disposed on the inner circumference of the rim while maintaining the structural strength of the rim for weight reduction and cost saving purposes.
Abstract:
A bicycle rim includes a plurality of recesses defined in an inner periphery thereof and a through hole is defined through the rim and shares a common axis with the recess corresponding thereto. A plurality of spokes each have a threaded hole defined in a first end thereof which is fitted in one of the recesses and a plurality of bolts extend through the through holes and are threadedly connected to the threaded holes in the spokes. The through holes are small so that they do not reduce the structural strength of the rim and the end of each spoke is fitted in the recess to further position the spokes to the rim. A second end of each of the spokes is connected to a hub by extending a bolt through the hub and threadedly connected to the second end of each spoke.
