Abstract:
A rim rotor braking system has an integrally formed rotor portion that is orientated at 90 degree to the rim. The rotor is compressed between calipers in a braking system that is attached to a portion of a vehicle such as a bicycle fork. The rotor's orientation maximizes heat transfer to the air and allows the braking system to efficiently stop the vehicle. The brake system may be mounted under the fork or adjacent to it. The rim may be made of aluminum, titanium, steel or any other suitable material. The braking mechanism may be mechanical, hydraulic or electric. In one embodiment, dual rotors are disposed on either side of the rim to provide extra braking power. In yet another embodiment, the rotor is replaceable.
Abstract:
A composite material wheel rim structure includes an inner rim surface and a rigid inner lining material encased by the inner rim surface to form an integrated composite structure capable of sustaining the drilling of spaced threaded holes of desired orientations and diameters for threaded engagement with corresponding attachment caps of wheel spokes so that the tightness of each spoke may be varied by the depth. The cap is threaded into the threaded hole.
Abstract:
A bicycle wheel rim and a method of making a bicycle wheel rim are provided. The rim provided is made of a single part using structural fiber based material, preferably carbon fiber material, with two circumferential wings for anchoring the tire, which extend radially outwards from the two sides of the outer peripheral wall of the rim.
Abstract:
A method of producing a bicycle rim including, positioning a first quantity of woven fiber strips having a first width and a first length and a second quantity of strips of said woven fibers having a shape different from the first shape to form a first laminated band from the first quantity and the second quantity of strips. A second narrower laminated band is produced. The first band is re-shaped to a V-shaped band before the first band is inserted along the periphery of a mold interior. A core is positioned on the first band and the second band is positioned on the first band. Rim well rings are positioned from outside on the second band, to abut the sides of the second band. A spreader ring is inserted between the rings to join the material near the upper rim flanks and the rim flanges.
Abstract:
A split rim for pneumatic tire includes a disk part having a seat portion allowing a corresponding tire bead part to be seated at the radial outer end. First and second pieces are connected to the disk part and have cylindrical parts coaxial with the disk parts. The cylindrical part of the second piece can be inserted into the cylindrical part of the first piece. The cylindrical parts of the first and second pieces overlap with each other in the inserted state and are connected to each other by a fastening mechanism. The fastening mechanism includes a group of claws formed on the inner circumference of the first piece cylindrical part and a group of claws formed on the outer circumference of the second piece cylindrical part.
Abstract:
A wheel rim includes an outer rim member having a serrated surface formed in each of two side portions and defined by one or more recesses and one or more bulges, an inner rim member for attaching to an inner peripheral portion of the outer rim member and having two peripheral flanges for engaging with and for securing to the side portions of the outer rim member with an adhesive material. The inner rim member is preferably made of synthetic materials, and the outer rim member is preferably made of metal materials. The outer rim member includes a peripheral shoulder formed in each of the side portions for engaging with and for anchoring the peripheral flanges of the inner rim member.
Abstract:
A hollow-cylindrical portion (26) inserted in a hollow-cylindrical portion (16) of one rim section (12) is provided on the other rim section (13). To form a split rim (11), part (head portion) of the inner hollow-cylindrical portion (26) overlaid on the outer hollow-cylindrical portion (16) is radially outwardly expanded by being elastically deformed by a tapered surface (39) of a piston (38) such that the inner and outer hollow-cylindrical portions (16, 26) are in close contact with each other. As a result, relative positions of the rim sections (12, 13) are strictly defined, and this enables high assembling accuracy, particularly coaxiality with a high level, to be achieved. A fine fitted to the split rim (11) can be inspected with high accuracy.

Abstract:
Vehicle wheel includes a rim and a pneumatic tire which includes a tread, two side walls, a carcass, reinforcing elements, and two tire beads with bead cores. An emergency running support body is supported on the rim which is arranged to support one of the pneumatic tire and an interior of the tread in an event of an emergency condition. The emergency running support body includes a shell-shaped ring body located inside the pneumatic tire and an emergency running surface on its exterior. At least one container, which contains a lubricant, is positioned inside a first ring chamber. This Abstract is not intended to define the invention disclosed in the specification , nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.
Abstract:
A cast metal automobile wheel with front and rear ends, an outer annular rim portion, a radially extending intermediate disc portion, a forwardly projecting central cone portion and annular series of circumferentially spaced circumferentially and radially extending wire spokes extending from the cone and disc portions to the rim portion; the spokes have radial inner ends releasably engaged in related radially outwardly disposed openings in the cone and disc portions and have spoke nuts on their radial outer ends releasably held between the rim portion and a clamp ring screw fastened to said rim portion; the rim portion and clamp ring have flat opposing annular surface; each of said annular opposing surfaces has circumferentially spaced radially extending nut seats opposing and closed by the other of said surfaces and in which related spoke nuts are engaged and captively retained.
