A plasma display apparatus is disclosed. The plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel and a filter positioned in front of the plasma display panel. The plasma display panel includes a front substrate on which an upper dielectric layer is positioned, first and second electrodes positioned between the front substrate and the upper dielectric layer, and a rear substrate on which a third electrode is positioned to intersect the first and second electrodes. The filter includes a first portion having a first degree of blackness, and a second portion that is positioned in the first portion and has a second degree of blackness larger than the first degree of blackness. A black layer is omitted between the front substrate and the upper dielectric layer.

The present invention provides a light-transmitting electromagnetic wave-shielding material for use in displays or in-vehicle panels each having a polarizing plate or a retardation plate, wherein the light-transmitting electromagnetic wave-shielding material undergoes no generation of light interference fringes and is satisfactory in visibility even through sunglasses, goggles, glare-proof panels or glare-proof window materials having polarizing capability. By using unstretched light-transmitting organic polymer materials low in molecular orientation or small in molecular orientation unevenness as the base substrate of an electromagnetic wave-shielding layer, the light-transmitting electromagnetic wave-shielding material excellent in light interference fringe prevention capability can be obtained.

The present invention relates to a plasma display apparatus. The plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel, a filter disposed on a front surface of the panel and comprising at least one of an anti-reflection (AR) layer, a near infrared (NIR)-shielding layer, and an electromagnetic interference (EMI)-shielding layer, and an external light-shielding sheet disposed on the front surface of the panel and comprising a base unit and a plurality of pattern units formed in the base unit. The filter and the external light-shielding sheet are adhered to the panel or fixed to a supporter. An air layer exists between the external light-shielding sheet and the filter. According to the present invention, a black image can be implemented effectively and bright room contrast can be improved. Further, a Moire effect can be reduced effectively and a ghost phenomenon can be improved.

A plasma panel, a plasma display apparatus, and a method of forming a complex functional layer for the plasma panel are provided, the plasma panel including: a front glass substrate and a back glass substrate which form a plurality of discharge cells; and a complex functional layer which is formed on an external surface of the front glass substrate. The complex functional layer includes a base substance, an optical functional substance, and a polymer substance to improve a crashworthy property of the front glass substrate.

An optical filter for a display device can be provided with excellent fracture strength without using heat-treated tempered glass. The optical filter is used in the display device having a display module therein and is disposed in front of the display module. The optical filter includes an annealed glass substrate, an optical film laminated on the surface of one side of the annealed glass substrate, and a protective layer formed on the surface of the other side of the annealed glass substrate. The protective layer serves to prevent a substance from being eluted from inside the annealed glass substrate.

The PDP includes the panel, a transparent conductive film and a metal film formed on the transparent conductive film, and further includes the film type filter coupled with the panel. Accordingly, electromagnetic waves can be effectively shielded and the optical transmittance of the filter can be improved.
