Abstract:
A method for operating a telephone system with at least two telephony terminals to where, in addition to voice data or user data, functional data is transmitted by means of special functions of the telephone system, such as forwarding or holding established call connections. It shall be possible in a simple way for the user to handle even a relatively large multitude of special functions. For this purpose, according to the invention, an action key of a first telephony terminal, provided for triggering special functions is assigned the respective special function to be triggered, depending on its own status or the status of a second telephony terminal within the same team.
Abstract:
A system and method for coupling a communications device to a primary communications network having a first communications format and to a secondary communications network having a second communications format, such that the communications device is configured for having an assigned device identification and configured for using an assigned network address for use in routing data over the primary communications network. The system and method can comprise a first port configured for connecting to the communications device, a second port configured for connecting to the primary communications network and facilitating the communication of the data between the primary communications network and the communications device through the first port, and a third port configured for connecting to the secondary communications network and facilitating the communication of the data between the secondary communications network and the communications device through the first port. Also included is a switching module coupled to the ports and configured for facilitating a selected communication path of the data between either the first port and the second port or between the first port and the third port.
Abstract:
Techniques are described by which an IP telephone system leverages the digital signal processing functions of end-user IP telephones by distributing signal processing tasks typically carried out by a centralized IP-PBX. The end-user IP telephones publicize their signal processing capabilities and availabilities to an IP-PBX, which maintains a resource capability mapping of the IP telephones. When the IP-PBX receive a bitstream for a communication session involving IP telephones and/or legacy phones of the IP telephone system, the IP-PBX determines the signal processing requirements for the bitstream, selects an available, capable IP telephone to perform the requirements, and distributes the bitstream to the selected IP telephone. The IP telephone performs the requisite signal processing and returns the processed bitstream to the IP-PBX, which forwards the processed bitstream to the destination endpoint for the communication session.
Abstract:
A system, method, and computer readable medium for provisioning radio access via a femtocell system that includes integrated BTS and BSC functions are provided. The femtocell system is coupled with a packet switched backhaul and provides an IP-accessible radio access network. The femtocell system includes a session initiation protocol adapter that supports a SIP client pool and provides conversion of call set-up functions to SIP client set-up functions for provisioning of radio access to a user equipment. The user equipment may have a session initiation protocol client associated with the user equipment. The session initiation protocol client is hosted and registered with a registrar service by the femtocell system. Accordingly, telecommunication services may be directed to and from the user equipment over the packet-switched backhaul to the user equipment via the femtocell system.
Abstract:
The invention provides a portable and autonomous assistance device to derive information on faults in a private telecommunication installation comprising particularly equipment units to assist the client owning the installation in maintaining the latter. A maintenance session is selected in a maintenance server of the service provider managing the installation as a function of information transmitted by the assistance device so as to provide instructions in the device. The address of the server and an identifier of the equipment unit are rapidly read by means of a bar code reader which can also read bar codes in a user manual. The assistance device also serves to configure a terminal (TE) by means of a configuration session opened in a server (SFT) of the terminal manufacturer.
Abstract:
This private branch exchange includes a control portion parallelly forwarding an incoming call on an outside line to a plurality of recipients through one or more of a first telephone communication portion, a second telephone communication portion and a third telephone communication portion if the incoming call on the outside line is not answered.
Abstract:
In order centrally to control devices arranged in a computer network, via a computer network-external data processing device, a central data processing device in which control sequences, each composed of a sequence of instructions, are stored in a memory is set up in the computer network. After one of the stored control sequences has been selected, the selection having been made by a control application which runs on the computer network-external data processing device and which has been downloaded by the central data processing device, the instructions of the selected control sequence are successively transferred by the central data processing device via the computer network to the respective devices to be controlled. A control unit implemented in the devices subsequently controls an application running on the respective devices.
Abstract:
A voice communication controller (e.g., private branch exchange (PBX)) is described herein which can automatically enable an outbound dual tone multi-frequency (DTMF) feature for one of it's extensions that is attached to a phone which belongs to a user while that user is or is likely to be participating in a session with an external DTMF communication system (e.g., a conference/collaboration bridge, an interactive voice response (IVR) system, or a voice mail system). This is desirable because if the user presses button(s) on their phone then the voice communication controller which has enabled the outbound DTMF feature will not attempt to process the corresponding DTMF digit(s) but instead will automatically transfer the corresponding DTMF signal(s) to the external DTMF communication system.
Abstract:
An adaptation mechanism monitors, maintains and controls quality of voice-grade for communications among end-systems in a distributed PBX topology, thereby providing an enhanced Quality of Service (QoS) for the network.
Abstract:
Devices, methods, and programmed instructions useful for transferring an end of an existing call session from a wireless handheld telephony device to a second device, such as a desk phone. The second device provides information useful for transferring the call directly to the handheld device on which the call session is established.
