    摘要: Multifunctional liquid phase carriers (LPCs) and methods of using LPCs for the preparation of biopolymers are provided. The LPCs are highly symmetrical compounds that possess more than two points of attachment for biopolymer synthesis. The LPCs have the formula Sp(X1)n, where Sp is a highly symmetrical moiety such that all X1 groups are equivalent. X1 is a functional group that is suitable for biopolymer synthesis, including OH, SH, NH2, COOH and the like. Biopolymers that may be produced using the methods provided include oligonucleotides, peptides, protein nucleic acids (PNAs) and oligosaccharides. Analogs of the biopolymers may also be prepared using the methods.

    摘要: Process for the preparation of alkylbenzenes by partial chlorination of linear C.sub.9 -C.sub.15 paraffins, catalytic alkylation of benzene with the resulting mixture and fractionation by distillation of the alkylation products.At least a part of the unreacted paraffins recovered by fractionation and to be recycled to the chlorination stage is submitted, continuously or intermittently, to a purification treatment with molecular sieves.The content in undesired by-products of the alkylbenzenes can thus be maintained at negligibly low values.

    摘要: An improved HF alkylation process is described which comprises alkylating an isoparaffin with an olefin, separating a stream containing HF and ethane from the reaction effluent, contacting this separated stream with ethylene to convert the HF content of the stream to ethyl fluoride, thereafter separating ethane free of HF from the ethyl fluoride. A preferred embodiment comprises passing the separated ethyl fluoride to the alkylation zone to provide at least a portion of the ethyl fluoride requirements for an improved ethyl fluoride promoted HF alkylation process.

    摘要: Although phosgene itself does not react with the carbonyl group of acetylbenzenes, the adduct of phosgene and pyridine will react converting the acetyl group to either the Alpha -chlorovinyl or Alpha , Alpha -dichloroethyl group. The Alpha , Alpha dichloroethyl group can be converted to the Alpha -chlorovinyl group and the latter can be dehydrohalogenated to the ethynyl group. This reaction permits low cost phosgene to be substituted for the much more expensive phosphorus pentachloride thereby providing an economical process for converting acetylbenzenes to the corresponding ethynylbenzenes which are useful in making polyacetylenes.

    摘要: A process for adding from one to two methyl substituents to an aromatic hydrocarbon which involves reacting the aromatic hydrocarbon with formaldehyde in an aqueous HCl medium in an atmosphere containing gaseous HCl at an elevated pressure to obtain a chloromethyl aromatic hydrocarbon, reacting the chloromethyl aromatic hydrocarbon with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst and gaseous HCl at an elevated pressure to obtain the desired methyl aromatic hydrocarbon, hydrogen and gaseous HCl and recycling the latter hydrogen and gaseous HCl to the first stage of the process.
