Abstract: Electricity generators are provided that can include: members having opposing bases that include chambers to facilitate the conversion of source energy to mechanical energy with one of the members rotating in relation to another of the members and a housing about the rotating member. Generator components can be operably engaged to the housing and rotating member to generate electricity. Methods for generating electricity are also provided. The methods can include: rotating a first cylindrical member in relation to a fixed second member about a center rod along a shared axis within a housing; and generating electricity between conductive components along both the sidewalls of the first cylindrical member and the housing.

Abstract: A rotary engine including a housing and housing head enclosing a combustion chamber, a piston including an output shaft and a piston disk within the housing and rotatable on a piston rotation axis, a quadrant within the housing and around the piston and rotatable on a quadrant rotation axis, wherein the quadrant rotation axis is acutely angled to the piston rotation axis, and a post surrounding a segment of the piston disk. The post pivots relative to the piston about a post-piston rotation axis that is normal to the face of the piston disk. The post pivots relative to the quadrant about a post-quadrant pivot axis that is perpendicular to the quadrant rotation axis. The post rotates about the quadrant rotation axis relative to the housing. Combusting fuel injected into the combustion chamber expands and pushes on the piston disk to rotate the output shaft about the piston rotation axis.

Abstract: A rotary internal combustion engine includes outer and inner housings defining an enclosure therebetween, and first and second side housings disposed on opposite sides of the outer housing. The inner housing is rotatable relative to the outer housing, at least one retractable barrier and at least one fixed barrier. The at least one retractable barrier and the at least one fixed barrier are disposed in the enclosure so as to divide the enclosure into a combustion chamber and an exhaust chamber. The at least one retractable barrier is mounted along a pivot axis and is pivotable between an extended position and a retracted position. An intake port, exhaust port, and ignition source are also provided. An exhaust duct extends from within the enclosure to outside the outer housing in a direction tangent to flow in the enclosure.

Abstract: A compound cycle engine having a rotary internal combustion engine, a first turbine, and a second turbine is discussed. The exhaust port of the internal combustion engine is in fluid communication with the flowpath of the first turbine upstream of its rotor. The rotors of the first turbine and of each rotary unit drive a common load. The inlet of the second turbine is in fluid communication with the flowpath of the first turbine downstream of its rotor. The first turbine is configured as a velocity turbine and the first turbine has a pressure ratio smaller than that of the second turbine. A method of compounding a rotary engine is also discussed.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes first and second common rails each having a metering or pressure regulating valve, with the valves settable at different pressure values from one another. Rotors are each sealingly and rotationally received within a respective cavity to define at least one combustion chamber of variable volume. The engine includes first and second fuel injectors for each of the rotors. Each first fuel injector is in fluid communication with the first common rail and each second fuel injector is in fluid communication with the second common rail. A method of feeding fuel in an internal combustion engine is also provided.

Abstract: A rotary directional pressure engine having a case within which a plurality of rotors rotate in parallel. The rotors include asymmetrical cavities on the circumferential faces thereof, which cavities function to move air and/or other gases into a combustion chamber area during an intake phase, to cooperatively form a combustion chamber during an ignition and combustion phase, and to move exhaust gases to the area of one or more exhaust ports for removal from the engine during an exhaust phase. Continued rotation of the rotors is accomplished by harnessing and properly directing the forces of combustion against the asymmetrical cavities of the rotors.

Abstract: Combustion engine having a rotor, a housing and at least two combustion chambers which are formed between the rotor and the housing, wherein the housing has at least one ignition recess on the side thereof which faces the rotor, into which ignition recess a fuel feed and ignition system opens. At least one valve device which is mounted rotatably in the housing is configured for dividing the combustion chambers at least temporarily into an ignition chamber and a compression chamber. The valve device has at least one rotor passage section, at least one closing section and at least one gas passage section. Alternatively, the valve device temporarily at the same time disconnects a compression chamber from a first combustion chamber and an ignition chamber from a second combustion chamber, wherein there is a fluidic connection during this time between the ignition chamber and the compression chamber.
