    Abstract: A valve assembly for a fuel pump and having: a one-way outlet closing valve, which only allows fuel to flow out; a one-way pressure relief valve, which only allows fuel to flow in; a connector, which has a housing on the inside; and a valve disc, which engages the housing of the connector and has a plurality of through outlet holes and a through relief hole. A shutter of the outlet closing valve consists of a flexible sheet, which is fixed to the valve disc and has: a plurality of shutting portions arranged in the area of the outlet holes; a peripheral mounting portion with an annular shape; a plurality of outer connection portions, each connecting the peripheral mounting portion to a corresponding shutting portion; a central mounting portion; and a plurality of inner connection portions, each connecting the central mounting portion to a corresponding shutting portion.

An electromagnetic suction valve mechanism (electromagnetic valve mechanism) includes a suction valve (valve body), a rod engaged with the suction valve, and a magnetic attraction force generation unit that generates a magnetic attraction force for moving the rod in an axial direction. The rod is provided with a low friction portion. The low friction portion is set to a friction coefficient such that a frictional force generated between the rod and the rod contact component with which the rod is in contact is smaller than a rotational propulsive force of the rod.

    Abstract: A lubricated high pressure fuel pump assembly is provided, comprising a fuel pump, a sealed enclosure and a pump lubrication circuit. The fuel pump includes a pump drive shaft via which the fuel pump is configured to be mechanically driven. The sealed enclosure is configured to surround a first portion of the pump drive shaft, wherein the first portion is exterior to the fuel pump. The pump lubrication circuit comprises a lubricant reservoir and a lubricant pump configured to pump lubricant from the lubricant reservoir to the pump drive shaft. The sealed enclosure is configured to prevent fluid leakage from the fuel pump via the first portion of the pump drive shaft and the lubricant reservoir is configured to collect the lubricant from the pump drive shaft, such that the lubricant is retained within the lubricated high pressure fuel pump assembly.

    Abstract: A high pressure fuel pump includes: a pump body that forms a suction passage and a pressurizing chamber and slidably supports a plunger; and a control valve that opens a connection between the suction passage and the pressurizing chamber in a suction stroke, during which the plunger is driven toward a suction side for suctioning fuel into the pressurizing chamber, while the control valve controls closing timing, at which the connection between the suction passage and the pressurizing chamber is closed by the control valve in a delivery stroke, during which the plunger is driven toward a delivery side for delivering the fuel out of the pressurizing chamber. The pump body forms a release passage that is communicated with the suction passage. The release passage relieves the fuel, which is pressurized by the plunger, from the pressurizing chamber before the closing timing during the delivery stroke.

    Abstract: A metering valve supplies fuel to and block fuel from a pressurizing chamber by moving a valve body by switching between energization and de-energization of an electromagnetic unit. An energization control unit performs a valve closing control and a valve opening control to reduce operating sound in one opening and closing period in which the valve body opens and closes. A time control unit controls, on determination that the energizing period of the electromagnetic unit exceeds the upper limit value, a moving speed of the valve body when the valve body moves to a valve closing side, such that the energization period of the electromagnetic unit in the one opening and closing period does not exceed the upper limit value, thereby to cause the energization control unit to perform both the valve closing control and the valve opening control in the one opening and closing period.

    Abstract: A solenoid valve includes an inner stator and an outer stator that are part of a magnetic circuit. An armature is attracted toward the inner stator when a coil is energized. A spring biases the armature in a direction away from the inner stator. A rod is integrally formed with the armature and integrally reciprocates with the armature. A guide guides reciprocation of the rod. A valve operates by following the rod to open and close a fuel/liquid passage. The spring and sliding portions between the rod and the guide are arranged within a recess portion formed in the inner stator and arranged in parallel to each other while overlapping in the axial direction.

    Abstract: The disclosed inlet check valve is used in a high pressure fuel pump and is comprised of a valve member integrally connected to a valve stem which is coupled to an inlet valve armature. The valve member has a stroke along an axis between an open position and a closed position. An inlet valve solenoid generates a magnetic field in an inlet valve pole to attract the inlet valve armature and move the valve member from the open position to the closed position. In the open position, the valve member contacts an inlet valve stop and a gap greater than the stroke of the valve member is defined along the axis between the inlet valve armature and the inlet valve pole. In the closed position, an inlet valve seat mates with the valve member and an armature gap remains between the inlet valve armature and the inlet valve pole.
