    摘要: The method consists of deriving a coherence measure from selected related traces of a seismic cross-section, and thereafter weighting individual or selected ones of the seismic traces in accordance with such time-analogue coherence quotient. Apparatus for carrying out the method may consist of structure for imposing predetermined delay between each pair of a group of selected seismic traces with subsequent summation, multiplication and integration over a time period to provide a first integrated output; and each trace pair is then subjected to one or more other predetermined, different delays with respective outputs applied to the multiplier and integrator circuitry thereby to generate additional integrated outputs. All integrated outputs for each trace pair are then applied through sample and hold circuitry to select a time-varying maximum voltage signal for output as a coherence quotient signal. Thereafter, the coherence quotient signals for each trace pair are combined to form a signal of time-varying character which is employed to control signal gain through duration of selected seismic trace signals thereby to selectively allow passage or to suppress in varying degrees the final output signal indications.

    摘要: A buoy for use in seismic surveying at marine locations comprises an elongated housing with a flotation member positioned near the normal waterline of the device. The lower portion of the housing or battery section is of greater diameter than the upper section, and a tethering ring for connection to an anchor is located at the upper end of the battery section so that the cross sectional area below the tethering ring is substantially equal to the cross sectional area of the housing above the tethering ring. A seismic detection apparatus, conveniently a hydrophone, is used to detect seismic signals and preferably rests on the water bottom. A seismic amplifier within the housing amplifies the geophone signals. The gain of the amplifier is controlled by a circuit that varies the gain in accordance with a weighted function of the amplitude of the output signals of the amplifier over an interval of at least two minutes. The output signal of the amplifier also is used to amplitude modulate a signal generator of constant frequency or constant repetition rate, and the amplitude modulated signal is used to frequency modulate a radio transmitter.

    摘要: One-hundred low-frequency analog signal channels having a very large dynamic range, may be amplified to at least half of full scale a 14 bit analog to digital converter without distortion by an amplifier system that includes an instantaneous gain-ranger, a preamplifier for each channel, a filter system for each channel, a premultiplexer gain-ranging amplifier for each channel, and a multiplexer. The instantaneous gain-ranger consists of a series of binary amplifier stages, threshold detecting circuitry and logic circuitry. The output is taken from the first unsaturated amplifier. The preamplified and premultiplexer gain-ranging amplifier are connected into the system ahead of the multiplexer and provide a sufficient signal-to-noise ratio to mask the noise introduced into the system by the multiplexer. The output of the system is typically digitized.

    摘要: A time varying time scale display and the process for generating same, wherein conventional seismic data recorded at a fixed sampling rate are resampled at a preselected time varying rate. A conventional display camera is modified to provide an external timing circuit, which during the process is actuated by a timing signal based on the preselected time varying rate. Thus the high frequency portion of the display is expanded and the low frequency portion is contracted, to provide an improved seismic display having the selected time varying time scale.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for processing seismic data to display representations of reflectors within a three-dimensional volume. The data is collected with a surface geophone array in response to a single seismic source. Separate portions of the data are processed to identify reflectors with respect to certain of the geophones. These separately processed data are then compared to isolate common identifications of the same reflector. Coordinate information applicable to the isolated identification are then resolved to position the reflector within the three-dimensional volume. A projection of that position is then produced on a display surface to provide a two-dimensional representation of the reflectors within the three-dimensional volume.

    摘要: The disclosure relates to a system for providing a three-color graphic representation of the subaqueous terrain. As in previous systems, a sound generator is used to transmit an acoustic signal to the ocean floor, which signal is then transmitted by reflection and appropriately received. Received signals are separated into pulses of a plurality of selected frequencies, which pulses are used to selectively activate a plurality of glow lamps in accordance with the detected frequencies. A dichroic mirror system is then used to convert the light from the glow lamps into primary color radiation which is then combined and used to make a photographic record of the signal pattern in color.

    摘要: An analog-digital converter has an input for an analog waveform and a reference voltage generator connected to a device for modifying the output of the generator in selected amplitude steps. A variable gain amplifier is arranged to receive both the analogue input and the modified reference voltage and is connected to a device for producing at repeated instants a digital signal corresponding to the difference between the instantaneous analog input and the modified reference voltage, and a further signal to the modifying device, should the difference be outside a predetermined range. The modifying device is responsive to the further signal to alter the reference voltage fed to the amplifier such that the difference is maintained within the predetermined range.
