    摘要: In general, the invention relates to techniques for reconstructing color channels in a multi-channel display device. The invention may be particularly useful in reconstructing the light source spectra for the color channels of liquid crystal displays (LCD). In order to accurately model and calibrate a display device, an accurate light source spectrum estimate for each of the individual color channels is needed. In accordance with the invention, a light source spectrum can be determined for each color channel of a display based on measured emission spectra for the color channels, an inverted contrast ratio for the display, and an assumed transmission spectrum for a light valve in the display. The invention provides techniques to compensate for light leakage from adjacent color channels with regards to wavelength dependent transmissions that cause hue shifts in images reconstructed by the display device.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display and its driving method are provided which enable a proper gamma correction to be made to each of red, green, and blue colors without causing a decrease in a number of gray levels in an output image and enable lowering in an image quality to be prevented. The liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal panel in which pixel electrodes for each of the red, green, and blue colors are repeatedly arranged along a scanning line, a scanning line driving circuit to scan in every scanning period, an RGB (Red, Green, and Blue) switching reference gray-scale voltage producing circuit to produce a reference voltage corresponding to a voltage-transmittance characteristic of each color, and a signal line driving circuit to produce a signal voltage and to feed to each signal line.

    摘要: A light emitting device and a method of fabricating the device include a wavelength selective reflector that is formed between a light source and a layer of phosphorescent material. The light emitting device is a phosphor-conversion light emitting diode (LED) that outputs secondary light that is converted from primary light emitted from the light source. In the preferred embodiment, the light source is a Gallium Nitride (GaN) die and the wavelength selective reflector is a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) mirror. The DBR mirror is comprised of multiple alternating layers of high and low refractive index materials. The high refractive index material may be Titanium Dioxide (TiO.sub.2) and the low refractive index material may be Silicon Dioxide (SiO.sub.2). An encapsulating layer over the GaN die provides a distance between the GaN die and the DBR mirror. Preferably, the encapsulating layer is a dome-shaped structure and the DBR mirror forms a dome-shaped shell over the encapsulating layer. In the most preferred embodiment, the dome-shaped configuration of the encapsulating layer and the DBR mirror is generally hemispheric. The dome-shaped configuration of the DBR mirror reduces the cone-angle average of the primary light from the light source, thereby improving the transmittance characteristic of the DBR mirror with respect to the primary light. Consequently, the amount of output light generated by the LED is significantly improved.

    摘要: A color plasma display panel including a pixel matrix array (R, G, B) in which discharge cells of the red (R), green (G) and blue (B) are grouped to constitute a pixel, wherein the pixel includes a blue discharge cell (B) having a height smaller than the entire height of the pixel and width equal to entire width of the pixel (R, G, B), and red and green discharge cells laterally aligned with each other, each of the red and green discharge cells having a height corresponding to a difference between the entire height of the pixel and the height of the blue discharge cell (B) and a width less than 1/2 the entire width of the pixel. The pixel further includes an assistant cell (M) disposed between the red and green discharge cells and priming holes (H) respectively provided at partition walls each disposed between each of the red (R) and green (G) discharge cells and the assistant cell (M). In this color plasma display panel structure, it is possible to easily adjust a luminance difference among three kinds of discharge cells, thereby achieving improvements in white balance and luminance.

    摘要: An array of M.times.N thin film actuated mirrors for use in an optical projection system comprises an active matrix, an array of M.times.N thin film actuating structures, each of the thin film actuating structures being provided with a first and a second actuating parts, each of the first and second actuating parts including at least a thin film layer of a motion-inducing material, a pair of electrodes, each of the electrodes being provided on top and bottom of the motion-inducing thin film layer, an array of M.times.N supporting members, each of the supporting members being used for holding each of the actuating structures in place by cantilevering each of the actuating structures and also for electrically connecting each of the actuating structures and the active matrix, and an array of M.times.N mirror layers for reflecting light beams, each of the mirror layers further including a first side, a second opposing side and a center portion located therebetween, wherein the first side and the second opposited side of each of the mirror layers are secured on top of the first and second actuating parts of each of the actuating structures, respectively, such that when the first and second actuating parts in each of the actuating structures deform in response to an electrical signal applied between the first and second electrodes, the center portion of the corresponding mirror layer tilts while remaining planar, thereby allowing all of the center portion to reflect the light beams, resulting in an increased optical efficiency.
