摘要: A welding gun adapted to secure a contact tip within the welding gun without threading the contact tip and without the use of tools. The contact tip may be adapted to abut a surface of a first member disposed within the welding gun. The surface may be a surface of a gas diffuser. The surface may be adapted to abut the contact tip. The contact tip also may be adapted for abutment with a second member to urge the contact tip toward the first member. The second member may be a portion of a nozzle adapted to abut the contact tip to urge the contact tip toward the surface of the first member. A method of assembling a welding gun also is provided. The method may include disposing a contact tip between a first and a second member and capturing the contact tip between the first and second members.

摘要: The example methods and apparatus reduce and/or eliminate adverse effects of welding work pieces having dissimilar compositions. An example method includes depositing a first weld layer on a first end of a first work piece. The first work piece has a first content of a metallic element and the first weld layer has a second content of the metallic element higher than the first content. The example method includes depositing a second weld layer between the first weld layer and a second end of a second work piece to couple the first work piece to the second work piece. The second weld layer has a third content of the metallic element higher than the second content, and the second work piece has a fourth content of the metallic element higher than the first content.

摘要: A TIG welding method and apparatus which enable a higher aspect ratio weld zone cross-sectional shape to be obtained and which further can prevent the heat radiated from the weld arc causing the permanent magnets to overheat, specifically a TIG welding method which causes an arc discharge between a workpiece and an electrode of a welding torch to cause the generation of a weld arc, uses permanent magnets to generate a magnetic field around the weld arc, and causes an electromagnetic force which is generated by electromagnetic interaction between the magnetic field and a current to act on a weld pool of the workpiece in welding, the TIG welding method arranging the permanent magnets around the electrode of the welding torch and moving the permanent magnets to make the magnetic field fluctuate and thereby make the drive force of convection which is applied to the weld pool fluctuate.

摘要: An improved electrode for use in a plasma arc torch. The electrode includes an electrode body, a cavity in a front face at a first end of the electrode body, and an insert disposed in the cavity. The first end of the electrode body is formed of high purity copper containing at least 99.81% copper. The insert has a first end and a second end and is formed of a high emissivity material. A diameter of the first end of the insert is less than a diameter of a second end of the insert. An electrode is compressed to retain the insert using radial compression. The invention also includes a method for forming the electrode, and a method of operation of an electrode in a plasma torch.
