摘要: In an embodiment, a display pipe is configured to composite one or more frames of images and/or video sequences to generate output frames for display. Additionally, the display pipe may be configured to compress an output frame and write the compressed frame to memory responsive to detecting static content in the output frames. The display pipe may also be configured to read the compressed frame from memory for display instead of reading the frames for compositing and display. In some embodiments, the display pipe may include an idle screen detect circuit configured to monitor the operation of the display pipe and/or the output frames to detect the static content.

摘要: A display controller reads blocks of data from a frame buffer and stores them in a local memory buffer of the display controller before outputting the blocks of data to a display. The display controller uses similarity meta-data associated with the output frame in the frame buffer to determine whether a new block of data to be processed for display is similar to a block of data already stored in the local memory of the display controller or not. If it is determined that the data block to be processed is similar to a data block already stored in the local buffer of the display controller, the display controller does not read a new data block from the frame buffer but instead provides the existing data block in its buffer to the display.

摘要: A method is disclosed that provides, by mapping logic, output to a selected display of a plurality of displays forming an arrangement, where the selected display provides a visual indication in response to the output. The visual indication indicates that the selected display is ready to be mapped to an image data portion corresponding to the selected display's physical position within the arrangement. The method maps the image data portion to the selected display. The image data portion is stored in a frame buffer, and is mapped in response to input indicating the selected display's physical position. The frame buffer stores a single large surface image as a plurality of image data portions, where each image data portion is mapped to a corresponding display of the plurality of displays. An apparatus is also disclosed, that operates in accordance with the method.

摘要: A display controller includes a graphic memory, a graphic memory control unit and a scan control unit. The graphic memory has a storage capacity defined by a first directional size multiplied by a second directional size. The graphic memory control unit converts two-dimensional (2-D) addresses to one-dimensional (1-D) addresses based on an input clock signal and first directional total pixel number of a display panel for displaying input data, converts the 1-D addresses to physical 2-D addresses based on the first directional size and controls the graphic memory to store the input data. The display panel has a resolution corresponding to the first directional total pixel number multiplied by a second directional total pixel number of the display panel. The scan control unit increases scan addresses one line by one line to display data stored in the graphic memory according to a display resolution.

摘要: Embodiments includes methods and systems for updating display devices at a variable refresh rate. One embodiment includes a method of updating an image displayed on a display device. The method includes setting an indicator to a first state that indicates that image data has been received subsequent to a previous update of a display device and periodically updating at least a portion of the display device to display the image. The updating is deferred for at least one period when the indicator is in a state other than the first state. In another embodiment, updates of the display are substantially asynchronous and occur as the processor writes data to one or more shift registers. When a shift register is filled, for example, having received data for a row within the display, the data in the shift register is written to the display. Other embodiments include methods of manufacturing such devices.

摘要: A method of generating an image comprises receiving a signal over a USB interface comprising encoded display data for one or more rectangular group of pixel tiles within an image and position data for the or each group of pixel tiles. The coefficients are obtained from the encoded display data, maybe by converting variable bit length fields into AC coefficients and an inverse Haar transform performed on them to generate pixel data for each rectangular group of pixel tiles. A frame buffer, which may be part of the display, is then updated with the generated pixel data ready for output to the display device. Copy protection may also be incorporated using AES negotiated over HDPC.

摘要: Provided is a display control device capable of coping with high-resolution display readily in terms of conducting data write and read on a frame buffer memory in time for the timing of display. The display control device has a plurality of line buffers, and is arranged so that a writing process for writing, into part of the line buffers, display lines of display data from outside, and a reading process for reading out written display lines of display data from other line buffers can be conducted in parallel. In the display control device, display-line data read out from the line buffers are compressed and stored in the frame buffer memory. The compression-display data read out from the frame buffer memory are read out for each line, and decompressed into display lines of display data. The decompressed display data are used to drive signal electrodes of a display device.

摘要: A display control device (1) comprises: a plurality of display devices (16a) and (16b); a display output section (18) which supplies image data to the display devices (16a) and (16b); a frame buffer (22) which temporarily stores the image data; and a buffer control section (24) which controls the frame buffer (22). The display output section (18) transmits the image data stored in the frame buffer (22) to the plurality of display devices (16a) and (16b), and reads, from an image data storage section (12), image data not stored in the frame buffer (22), so as to transmit the read image data to the display devices (16a) and (16b), and to write the read image data in the frame buffer (22). The buffer control section (24) is configured to prevent that image data, which are stored in the frame buffer (22) and which are not yet read, are overwritten by the image data read from the image data storage section (12). Thereby, it is possible to reduce the amount of memory access at low cost.
