Abstract:
The invention relates to a conductor (2) for electrical equipment, the conductor comprising at least one hollow section member (2) of electrically conductive material that is elongate along a longitudinal axis (Y), the conductor having an outside surface in which at least a portion forms corrugations (23, 24) in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The conductor may advantageously form a movable contact (blade) (2) of a high voltage disconnector.
Abstract:
A method for capturing ammonia present in combustion flue gas subjected to carbon dioxide removal using a water wash unit included in a chilled ammonia process. The method includes combining a CO2 loaded liquid and a wash water liquid to form a CO2 enriched wash water liquid that is then brought into contact with the combustion flue gas.
Abstract:
An air quality control system (AQCS) useful for processing a gas stream, such as a flue gas stream emitted from a fossil fuel fired boiler, for at least partial removal of acidic and like pollutants therefrom. The air quality control system includes a CDS reactor useful using a reducing agent slurry.
Abstract:
An exemplary sequential combustor arrangement includes a first burner, a first combustion chamber, a mixer for admixing a dilution gas to the hot gases leaving the first combustion chamber during operation, a second burner, and a second combustion chamber arranged sequentially in a fluid flow connection. The mixer includes at least three groups of injection tubes pointing inwards from the side walls of the mixer for admixing the dilution gas to cool the hot flue gases leaving the first combustion chamber. The first injection tubes of the first group have a first protrusion depth, the second injection tubes of the second group have a protrusion depth, and the third injection tubes of the third group have a third protrusion depth.
Abstract:
The method for retrofitting a double flow steam turbine includes opening an outer casing of the steam turbine, removing the blade carriers and the stator blades, removing the inner casing with inlet belt, removing the double flow rotor and the rotor blades. Thus, the method includes the further steps of providing a new single flow rotor and new rotor blades different from the rotor blades connected to the double flow rotor, providing balancers connected to the single flow rotor, to balance the axial thrust, providing new stator blade carriers and new stator blades different from the stator blades associated to the double flow rotor, providing a new inner casing with inlet belt, providing a passage between the inner casing and the outer casing, closing the outer casing.
Abstract:
A gas cleaning unit for cleaning an effluent gas of at least one aluminum production electrolytic cell comprises a contact reactor in which the effluent gas is brought into contact with alumina, and a dust removal device for removing at least a portion of the alumina. The gas cleaning unit further comprises a wet scrubber in which the effluent gas is brought into contact with an absorption liquid containing water for removing further pollutants from the effluent gas. The wet scrubber is positioned at a point vertically higher than that of the dust removal device.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method of operating a gas turbine with staged and/or sequential combustion. The burners of a second stage or a second combustor are singularly and sequentially switched on during loading and switched off during de-loading. The total fuel mass flow and the compressor inlet guide vanes are adjusted at the same time to allow controlling gas turbine operation temperatures and engine power with respect to the required CO emission target.
Abstract:
A method is provided for measuring the mass flow of a stream of a gaseous medium of elevated first temperature flowing through a specific pipe. The method includes providing a reference stream of the gaseous medium with a known mass flow and a second temperature being substantially lower than the first temperature. The method further includes mixing the reference stream with said stream of a gaseous medium of elevated first temperature flowing through said specific pipe. The measure resulting temperature of the mixture of the reference stream and said stream of a gaseous medium of elevated first temperature flowing through the specific pipe is measured. The method further includes determining the unknown mass flow of the stream of a gaseous medium of elevated first temperature flowing through the specific pipe from the known mass flow of the reference stream; the elevated first temperature, the second temperature of the reference stream and the measured resulting temperature according to the formula: Mx = M ref ( T 1 - T 3 x ) ( T 3 x - T 2 ) , where Mx is the unknown mass flow, Mref is the known mass flow of the reference stream, T1 is the second temperature, T2 is the elevated first temperature, and T3x is the resulting temperature after mixing.
Abstract:
An improved labyrinth seal is described with the seal including a group of several fins forming circumferential barriers against the flow of a working fluid between stationary and rotating parts in a turbine, wherein within the group the volume between the penultimate fin and the last fin is altered compared to the average volume between other adjacent fins of the group.
Abstract:
