Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to systems, apparatuses and methods for prediction, diagnosis, planning and monitoring for myopia and myopic progression. In some embodiments, one or more refractive properties of the eye is determined for each of a plurality of retinal locations of the eye. The plurality of locations may comprise a central region, such as a fovea of the eye, or non-foveal region such as a peripheral region or a region of the macula outside the fovea. Measuring the refractive properties of the eye for the plurality of locations may be helpful in diagnosing myopia and other ocular conditions by providing the refractive properties of the eye for locations away from the fovea, such as the peripheral retina.

Abstract: Improved optical coherence tomography systems and methods to measure thickness of the retina are presented. The systems may be compact, handheld, provide in-home monitoring, allow the patient to measure himself or herself, and be robust enough to be dropped while still measuring the retina reliably.

Abstract: An OCT axial length measurement device is configured to measure an area of the retina within a range from about 0.05 mm to about 2.0 mm. The area can be measured with a scanned measurement beam or plurality of substantially fixed measurement beams. The OCT measurement device may comprise a plurality of reference optical path lengths, in which a first optical path length corresponds to a first position of a cornea, and a second optical path length corresponds to a second position of the retina, in which the axial length is determined based on a difference between the first position and the second position. An axial length map can be generated to determine alignment of the eye with the measurement device and improve accuracy and repeatability of the measurements. In some embodiments, the OCT measurement device comprises a swept source vertical cavity surface emitting laser (“VCSEL”).

Abstract: An OCT system for measuring a retina as part of an eye health monitoring and diagnosis system. The OCT system includes an OCT interferometer, where the interferometer comprises a light source or measurement beam and a scanner for moving the beam on the retina of a patient's eye, and a processor configured to execute instructions to cause the scanner to move the measurement beam on the retina in a scan pattern. Measurement data may be processed using a decurving process to enhance the resolution of the ILM layer and provide improved determinations of retinal thickness.

Abstract: An opto-electronic module is configured to fit between anterior and posterior surfaces of a contact lens. The opto-electronics module may comprise a plurality of light sources configured to direct a plurality of light beams to a region of the retina away from the fovea and in some embodiments away from the macula. Each of the plurality of light sources may comprises an LED and one or more projection optics. Each of the projection optics can be coupled to an LED with an adhesive prior to placing the opto-electronics module on a layer of contact lens material. The opto-electronics module may comprise a flex PCB with the plurality of light sources, an antenna, a battery, a capacitor and a processor supported on the flex PCB.

Abstract: Systems, devices, apparatuses and methods for an active projection system that may be incorporated into spectacles, contact lenses or provided as an add-on layer to existing spectacles or lenses. The active projection system operates to generate a stimulus or stimuli for viewing by a person's eye. The stimulus or stimuli creates an image that is defocused in front of the person's retina and can assist in slowing or stopping the progression of myopia or other refractive errors in the person.

Abstract: A contact lens configured to decrease dark adaptation comprises one or more LEDs and directs light from the LED away from the fovea and toward the parafovea or perifoveal regions of the retain. In some embodiments, soft contact lens embedded with one or more arrays of microLEDs and electronics operating the LEDs is configured to be worn at night in order to inhibit dark adaptation and reduce oxygen consumption by the rods. The contact lens may be made of a single layer of a contact lens material or multiple layers sandwiching a flexible transparent plastic layer comprising the electronics and the LED arrays. The contact lens may be made of a hydrophilic hydrogel material that is biocompatible to the human cornea, or a silicone hydrogel material. The contact lens may be spherical and may provide refractive correction to the eye of the wearer.

Abstract: A device to stimulate the retina comprises one or more light sources coupled to one or more optical elements. The one or more optical elements is configured to illuminate the retina with one or more images at a location away from a fovea of a wearer. In some embodiments, each of the one or more images comprises a depth of focus and a spatial resolution. The one or more images can be formed at a distance anterior to the retina, at a distance posterior to the retina or on the retina. In some embodiments, the depth of focus is less than the distance, and the spatial resolution greater than a spatial resolution of the retina at the location.
