    Abstract: For paging user devices that are link budget limited (LBL), a base station transmits a special ID that is used by said devices to identify a paging frame and/or a paging occasion. When transmitting a paging message for an LBL device, the base station may use: (a) larger aggregation and larger CFI (than conventionally allowed) and (b) a larger number of resource blocks (than conventionally allowed) for paging payload. If paging messages for LBL devices saturate the paging frame capacity, the base station may allocate a plurality of special IDs. If paging messages for LBL devices and/or other data transfers saturate network capacity, at least a subset of the LBL devices may be directed to enter a connected-state discontinuous reception (DRX) mode, wherein those devices will remain in connected mode and periodically check for resource allocations. Paging payload information may be repeatedly transmitted in successive subframes, to support soft combining.

    Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for adaptive C-DRX Management. A wireless device and a cellular base station may establish a cellular link. According to some embodiments, the base station may monitor upcoming traffic with the wireless device. Based at least in part on the upcoming traffic for the wireless device, the base station may provide a command indicating to the wireless device to enter C-DRX. The command may further indicate to the wireless device a number of C-DRX cycles through which to remain in a low power state.

A cellular base station may select a precoding matrix for transmitting a downlink signal to a wireless device via a MIMO channel.     Abstract: This disclosure relates to providing system information for cell access to link budget limited devices. According to some embodiments, a base station may transmit an announcement information block (MB) in a downlink shared data channel (e.g., PDSCH), wherein the AIB contains information useable by a UE in determining the location of system information in the downlink shared data channel. The UE can thus determine the location of and decode system information without having to decode a downlink control channel (e.g., PDCCH). This may be important for certain classes of devices, such as link budget limited devices, which have issues in decoding the downlink control channel. Improved paging scheduling techniques are also disclosed which more efficiently use PDCCH paging resources.

    Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to DC interference cancelation in received wireless signals. Disclosed techniques may be performed in the digital domain, in conjunction with analog cancelation techniques. In some embodiments, a receiver apparatus operates a local oscillator at a frequency corresponding to a particular pilot symbol in a received wireless signal. In some embodiments the receiver estimates DC interference at the frequency based on the received pilot symbol (this may be facilitated by the fact that the contents of pilot symbols are known, because they are typically used for channel estimation). In some embodiments, the receiver apparatus is configured to cancel the DC interference based on the estimate to determine received data in subsequently received signals at the frequency. Disclosed techniques may allow narrowband receivers to efficiently use more of their allocated frequency bandwidth, rather than wasting bandwidth near the frequency of the local oscillator.

    Abstract: System and methods for providing special radio provisions to link budget limited devices. Before establishing a cellular connection with a cellular network, a user equipment device (UE), such as a link budget limited UE, may negotiate the special radio provisions with the network by presenting requested profile information to the network, and receiving back approved profile information from the network. The UE may perform these communications either directly, via a non-cellular communication connection with the network, or indirectly, via a companion or proxy device. When the UE initiates a cellular connection with the network, both entities may use information specified in the approved profile information, which may improve efficiency of the connection. In some scenarios, the approved profile information may identify a class of devices to which the UE belongs. The approved profile information may also be used in establishing connections with other devices of the same class.
