摘要: The present invention relates to improved methods and compositions for sealing subterranean zones penetrated by well bores to reduce their permeabilities and increase their compressive strengths. The methods basically comprise the steps of introducing an aqueous sealing composition into a subterranean zone comprising a polymerizable monomer, a polymerization initiator, a hardenable epoxide containing liquid and a hardening agent, placing the sealing composition by way of the well bore into the subterranean zone and allowing the sealing composition to polymerize and harden whereby the well bore is sealed.

摘要: The present invention provides improved methods of sealing a bridge plug or the like in a pipe disposed in a well bore. The methods basically include the steps of preparing a hardenable epoxy sealing composition which hardens into a resilient solid mass having a high pipe surface bond strength, placing the epoxy composition into the pipe adjacent to the bridge plug therein and allowing the epoxy composition to harden.

摘要: The present invention provides methods of modifying the properties of a subterranean stratum penetrated by a well bore to increase the resistance of the stratum to shear failure. The methods basically include the steps of preparing a hardenable epoxy composition having flexibility upon hardening including an epoxide containing liquid or an epoxy resin and an epoxide containing liquid and a hardening agent. The epoxy composition is pumped into the subterranean stratum by way of the well bore and by way of the porosity of the stratum and then allowed to harden in the stratum.

摘要: The present invention provides methods of decomposing gas hydrates in subsea or subterranean wells, the equipment associated with the wells and in subterranean reservoirs containing gas hydrates. The methods basically comprise the steps of combining an acidic liquid with a basic liquid which chemically react exothermically to form a hot salt solution, contacting the gas hydrates with the hot salt solution to decompose at least a portion of the gas hydrates whereby natural gas and water are released therefrom and recovering the released natural gas, water and salt solution.

A preferred set retarding additive comprises an alkanolamine salt produced by the reaction of a hydroxy carboxy acid, such as tartaric acid, gluconic acid or glucoheptonic acid, with an alkanolamine, such as monoethanolamine, diethanolamine or triethanolamine.
