Abstract:
A device for closing an opening in a wall of a body lumen includes a closure element with a first flange and a second flange. Both the first flange and the second flange may have a delivery cross-sectional dimension and a deployed cross-sectional dimension. The device for closing an opening further includes a first coupler element disposed on the first flange and a second coupler element disposed on the second flange, the first and second coupler elements cooperating to couple the first flange to the second flange.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for controlling the moisture content of biodegradable and bioresorbable polymer resin during extrusion above a lower limit that allows for plasticization of the polymer resin melt and below an upper limit to reduce or prevent molecular weight loss are disclosed. Methods are further disclosed involving plasticization of a polymer resin for feeding into an extruder with carbon dioxide and freon.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of methods and devices for coating stents are described herein. Among these embodiments are methods of manufacturing an implantable medical device by purifying a polymer with a fluid capable of swelling the polymer, and subsequently coating a device with the purified polymer or fabricating a device from the purified polymer. A preferred polymer is poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene).
Abstract:
A breast brachytherapy applicator providing a stable semi permanent/permanent in dwelling platform that is configured to replicate anatomically the excised cancer bed and allows for a more precise anatomically correct delivery of limited field radiation treatment. This device may be used to reconstitute a resected tissue space to its pre-operative size and shape to 1) facilitate the accurate and precise delivery of adjunctive breast brachytherapy following breast cancer surgery and 2) prevent/decrease post-operative deformity as a result of surgical resection, whether for benign or malignant disease, and in particular after radiation treatment of malignant disease in the post lumpectomy patient.
Abstract:
Methods of forming coatings comprising a polycationic peptide for medical devices are disclosed. Also disclosed is a coating comprising a polycationic peptide.
