The layer containing a light-emitting material includes a first region and a second region, the first region is interposed between the second electrode and the first electrode, light is emitted from the first region, the second region is interposed between the second electrode and the sidewall, and the sidewall reflects light. The first electrode includes a third region, and the third region is interposed between the first region and the first surface.

The active layer is positioned over the first pixel electrode and includes a first organic compound. The light-emitting layer is positioned over the second pixel electrode and includes a second organic compound different from the first organic compound. The common electrode includes a portion overlapping with the first pixel electrode with the active layer therebetween and a portion overlapping with the second pixel electrode with the light-emitting layer therebetween. The first transistor includes low-temperature polysilicon as a semiconductor layer and the second transistor includes a metal oxide as a semiconductor layer.

Abstract: A display device featuring a touch detection and a fingerprint imaging functions is provided. A display device includes a light-emitting element and a light-receiving element. A first conductive layer, a second conductive layer, and an insulating layer are provided above the common electrode. The insulating layer is provided above the first conductive layer, and the second conductive layer is provided above the insulating layer. The light-receiving element has a function of receiving light emitted from the light-emitting element.

Abstract: A display unit having a function of sensing light is provided. The display unit includes a first and second light-emitting devices, a light-receiving device, and a light-blocking layer. The first and second light-emitting devices emit a first color. The light enters the light-receiving device through a first opening of the light-blocking layer. In a top view, |a−b| of a difference between the shortest distance a from the first light-emitting device to the light-receiving device and the shortest distance b from the second light-emitting device to the light-receiving device is smaller than |c−d| of a difference between the shortest distance c from the first light-emitting device to the first opening and the shortest distance d from the second light-emitting device to the first opening. In the top view, c is shorter than d. Alternatively, a light-emitting and light-receiving device can be used.

Abstract: An object is to provide a highly reliable display unit having a function of sensing light. The display unit includes a light-receiving device and a light-emitting device. The light-receiving device includes an active layer between a pair of electrodes. The light-emitting device includes a hole-injection layer, a light-emitting layer, and an electron-transport layer between a pair of electrodes. The light-receiving device and the light-emitting device share one of the electrodes, and may further share another common layer between the pair of electrodes. The hole-injection layer is in contact with an anode and contains a first compound and a second compound. The electron-transport property of the electron-transport layer is low; hence, the light-emitting layer is less likely to have excess electrons. Here, the first compound is the material having a property of accepting electrons from the second compound.

Abstract: An electronic device which can display an image with the viewing angle dependence reduced is provided. A driving method of an electronic device including a display portion and a position detection sensor is provided. The display portion includes a first display element and a second display element. The first display element is configured to reflect visible light, and the second display element is configured to emit visible light. The display portion is configured to display an image using one or both of first light reflected by the first display element and second light emitted by the second display element. The position detection sensor is configured to detect a position of a user. When the display portion displays the image using both the first light and the second light, an amount of the second light is adjusted in accordance with an angle from which the display portion is viewed by the user.

Abstract: A flicker of an FFS liquid crystal display device that is driven at a low refresh rate is reduced. In an FFS liquid crystal display, a pixel electrode and a first common electrode included in a liquid crystal element are formed on an element substrate side, and a second common electrode is formed on another substrate (counter substrate) side. By making the first and second common electrodes have the same potential, generation of a residual DC voltage can be suppressed in a pixel. Thus, even when a refresh rate is lowered, change in transmittance of a pixel can be suppressed in a data retention period, so that a flicker can be reduced.
