Abstract:
The invention comprises a method to increase the water absorption of tissue paper towel products by incorporating super-absorbent polymers (SAP) in between the laminated tissue plies. The SAP is dosed in selected places in the tissue towel manufacturing process without the need to substantially change the current converting or manufacturing process, or the major equipment that is used or the properties of the base sheet tissue paper.
Abstract:
The present invention is generally directed to a process for hot embossing a base sheet and/or to a process for perforating and bonding multiple plies of a paper product together. The process can be used in order to apply a decorative pattern to a paper product and/or to bond multiple ply products together. In one embodiment, the process of the present invention includes feeding a previously formed single ply or multi-ply base sheet through a heated embossing nip. As the base sheet passes through the heated embossing nip, sufficient heat and pressure is imparted to cause the fibers within the sheet to begin to melt or glassinate. Upon cooling, inter-fiber bonding occurs resulting in a well-defined embossment as well as bonding between plies of a multi-ply product.
Abstract:
A multi-layered wet tissue product includes a first sheet layer embossed with a predetermined pattern and at a predetermined depth, and a second sheet layer embossed with a predetermined pattern and at a predetermined depth. The first and second sheet layers are thermally bonded to each other in a symmetrical structure such that an air layer can be formed between the first and second sheet layers and at least one of the first and second sheet layers is coated with liquid.
Abstract:
For the production of a sheet product including at least two layers (V1, V2) it is suggested, among other things, an embossing device including a first pressure roller (5; 105) interacting with a first and a second embossing cylinder (1, 3; 101, 103) provided with respective points (1P, 3P, 101P, 103P) on their cylindrical surface.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method for making a sheet of paper comprising at least two crimped cotton-wool-like cellulose plies (20, 40). It consists in: unwinding a first ply (20) in the form of a strip from a reel, embossing it on an embossing unit (10, 12) and forming protuberances at its surface, unwinding a second ply (40) in the form of a strip from a reel, guiding it downstream of the embossing unit (10, 12), superposing the two strips, with their protuberances facing inwards, and in applying a linking means (14, 16) so as to make the two strips integral with each other. Said method is characterised in that immediately upstream of said linking means (14, 16), a tension regulating means (18) is applied in the machine direction on one of the strips, such that the two strips have the same clastic deformation in the machine direction when the linking means is applied. The invention also concerns a product obtained by said method.
Abstract:
An embossed paper (10), wherein the paper is a highly extensible Kraft paper (10null) and wherein discrete bosses (14) and/or depressions (12) consist of portions of said paper stretched at a dry content of 50-95% is disclosed. A two, three or multi-layer paperboard comprising at least one layer of the embossed and/or depressed paper (10) is also disclosed. Thus, the embossed paper may be used as such or instead of fluted paper in a corrugated board. The disclosed paperboard is easily creased and folded in both major directions, and in other direction as well. Method of producing the embossed paper (10) and a method or producing a two, three or multi-layer paperboard comprising at least one layer of the embossed and/or depressed paper (10) are also described.
Abstract:
The embossing device comprises in combination: a first embossing unit (1) with a first embossing cylinder (3) provided with a first set of points (3P) and interacting with a first pressure cylinder (5) for forming, on a first ply (V1), a first set of protuberances (V1p) having small sizes and a high density; a second embossing unit (7) with a second embossing cylinder (9) provided with a second set of points (9P) and interacting with a second pressure cylinder (11) and a laminating cylinder (13), for forming, on a second ply (V2), a second set of protuberances (V2p) having larger sizes and a lower density than the protuberances of the first set; an adhesive dispenser (15) for applying an adhesive to one of said plies before lamination.
Abstract:
Method for producing a multi-ply web of flexible material, such as paper and nonwoven material and a multi-ply product produced according to the method. A first pattern roll, having a three dimensional pattern of alternating raised and recessed portions transfers glue to a first web shaped flexible material in a first press nip in glue sites covering an area corresponding to between 0.03 and 9% of the total area of the first web material and sparsely distributed over substantially the entire area of the first web material. A second web shaped flexible material is brought in contact with the glue applied side of the first web material in a second press nip between a second pattern roll having a three-dimensional pattern corresponding to that of the first pattern roll, and an impression roll. The first and second pattern rolls are driven in registry.
Abstract:
An embossed multiple ply paper product which displays aesthetically pleasing decorative attributes. The embossed multiple ply paper product also exhibits the functional characteristics of softness, absorbency, and drape. The decorative attributes comprise embossed patterns of indicia displaying a high quality cloth-like appearance for a softer, more quilted look.
Abstract:
The object of the present invention is an absorbent paper product including at least three plies, and a method of manufacture therefore. The absorbent paper product is of an approximate specific surface weight between 36 and 105 g/m2, and includes at least three plies, namely a central ply and two embossed upper and lower outer plies each including salient patterns composed of at least in part discrete protrusions. The plies are joined by joining at least part of the protrusions of each of the outer plies to the central ply. At least one of the outer plies has a pattern density larger than 30 protrusions/cm2. The embossed lower outer ply (2) includes combined high and low patterns (5 and 7) of respective heights (H) and (h). The central ply (4) and the embossed upper outer ply (3) are joined in the nested mode to the embossed lower outer ply (2) at the level of at least part of the tops of the high pattern (5) of height (H) of the embossed lower outer ply (2).
