Abstract: A carrier material has a resin layer arranged on a side of the carrier material. The resin layer includes a formaldehyde resin, a polymer selected from a group containing polyacrylates, polyepoxides, polyesters, polyurethanes, and long-chain silanols, and at least one silane-containing compound of general formula (I), Ra SiX(4-a), and/or the hydrolysis product thereof, where X is H, OH, or a hydrolyzable residue selected from the group comprising halogen, alkoxy, carboxy, amino, monoalkylamino or dialkylamino, aryloxy, acyloxy, alkylcarbonyl; R is a non-hydrolyzable organic residue R selected from the group comprising alkyl, aryl, alkenyl, substituted and unsubstituted alkynyl, cycloalkyl, which can be interrupted by —O— or —NH—; and where R can have a functional group Q selected from a group containing a hydroxy, ether, amino, monoalkylamino, dialkylamino, anilino, amide, carboxy, mercapto, alkoxy, aldehyde, alkylcarbonyl, epoxide, alkenyl, alkynyl, acryl, acryloxy, methacryl, methacryloxy, cyano, and isocyano group, and a is 0-3.

Abstract: The multilayer film of the present disclosure has at least a heat-sealing layer and a support layer formed on one side of the heat-sealing layer, wherein the first resin composition forming the heat-sealing layer comprises (a) high-density polyethylene, (b) a propylene random copolymer, and (c) a 1-butene polymer, wherein the content of the component (a) is 30 to 60% by mass, the content of the component (b) is 8 to 42% by mass, and the content of the component (c) is 16 to 56% by mass, wherein the component (a) has a melt flow rate of 10 to 30 g/10 minutes at 190° C., the component (b) has a melt flow rate of 8 to 20 g/10 minutes at 230° C., and the component (c) has a melt flow rate of 0.3 to 3 g/10 minutes at 190° C.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method of producing an MFC film comprising reinforcement fibers, which film show excellent oxygen barrier properties and is easy to handle. The method of manufacturing the film comprises the steps of: —providing a suspension comprising a first microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) in an amount of at least 50 weight %, reinforcement fibers in an amount of at least 5 weight %, all percentages calculated on the total solid content of said suspension, and a formation aid, —mixing said suspension to form a mixture, —forming a fibrous web from the mixture, and —dewatering and/or drying said fibrous web to form a film having a basis weight of less than 40 g/m2, a specific formation number of below 0.45 g0.5/m2, and an Oxygen Transmission Rate (OTR) value of below 100 ml/m2/per 24 hours, preferably of below 50 ml/m2 per 24 hours at 50% relative humidity. The invention further discloses a film and use of the film in food or liquid packaging applications.

Abstract: A large lightweight molded coffin comprises a large pulp molded outer shell lined with a reinforcing spacer material such as single faced Re-board®, a honeycomb structure or a molded spacer material conforming to and adhering to said shell and an inner shell made of molded pulp or a paper based material. A method for manufacturing such a lightweight coffin involves pressing slurried pulp between a first male mold half covered with elastomeric material and a second female mold half, to form the molded pulp shell, and gluing the reinforcing spacer material to the interior of said outer molded pulp shell and the inner shell.

Abstract: The invention provides monolayer films excellent in hydrophilicity and transparency which include a crosslinked resin having a surface enriched with hydrophilic groups, and materials which exhibit excellent properties such as hydrophilicity, antifogging properties and antifouling properties by virtue of having the above monolayer films. A monolayer film is fabricated which includes a crosslinked resin obtained by polymerizing a composition including a compound (I) having an anionic hydrophilic group and a functional group with a polymerizable carbon-carbon double bond, and a compound (II) having three or more hydroxyl groups and three or more functional groups with a polymerizable carbon-carbon double bond, the monolayer film having a gradient (Sa/Da) of not less than 1.1 wherein Sa is the surface concentration of the anionic hydrophilic groups in the monolayer film, and Da is the deep concentration of the hydrophilic groups at ½ of the thickness of the monolayer film.

Abstract: Methods of producing a multi-ply paper product are provided. The methods comprise applying coagulant and/or hybrid coagulant-flocculant composition to an upper ply substrate disposed adjacent and above a lower ply substrate in an amount such that a portion of the coagulant and/or the hybrid coagulant-flocculant composition passes through the upper ply substrate. Preferably, the lower ply substrate has a greater freeness than the upper ply substrate. The methods of the present disclosure preferably allow for efficient use of RDF chemicals while making use of the innate freeness differences between the upper and lower ply substrates.
