    摘要: A labyrinth drainage construction for draining water which has penetrated into a front case of a starter is provided by a groove, a communication port, and a drainage hole. The groove is formed on a lower inner peripheral surface of a fit-in portion of the front case which fits with a center case such that the groove extends backward along the lower part of a holding plate from the front side of the holding plate. The communication port is interposed between the groove and a rotation restriction member-holding space located between the holding plate and the center case, thus communicating the groove and the rotation restriction member-holding space with each other. A drainage hole is positioned axially rearward from the communication port and communicates the groove and the outside of the front case.

    摘要: In a starter for an internal combustion engine, comprising: a pinion; shift mechanism for moving the pinion into mesh with a ring gear of the engine; a housing for accommodating the pinion and the shift mechanism; an electric motor for rotating the pinion; a substantially cylindrical motor casing for accommodating the electric motor; a contact unit for selectively providing electric power to the electric motor; a brush holder stay disposed between the housing and the motor casing, the brush holder stay having a cavity opened toward the motor casing and the contact unit being mounted in the cavity; and a cover for covering the cavity of the brush holder stay, the cover is made of a flexible member so that the cover is naturally curved, and the cover is disposed between the brush holder stay and the motor casing with its concave surface facing the brush holder stay so that the cover is pushed toward the brush holder stay by an axial end of the motor casing. Thus, when pressed against the brush holder stay by the motor casing, the cover is deformed and made straight to produce a resilient restoring force, whereby increasing the pressing force to ensure sufficient watertight sealing effect.

    摘要: A starter includes a housing having a water barrier wall, a drive shaft disposed in the housing, and pinion gear having a flange portion. The water barrier wall comes into contact with the flange portion when the starter is in operation. The pinion gear is adapted to engage with a ring gear of an engine, which the starter starts. The pinion gear contacts the drive shaft through a sliding portion. The structure of the starter prevents water, dust, dirt and other contaminants from leaking into the housing via a window in the housing. Thus, the function and operability of the starter is improved.

The front bracket includes a tubular wall 22 surrounding the over-running clutch and having formed therein an opening for allowing the pinion in the forward position to be projected therethrough and a moisture drain opening 20c in its bottom. The water proof structure comprises a radial wall 25 extending from the front bracket toward a front end of the pinion in the forward position for substantially closing a gap between the tubular wall and the pinion. At the corner of the bottom portion of the radial wall and the tubular wall, a moisture drain hole 27 is provided.

    摘要: A torque transmission mechanism for an internal combustion engine, adapted to transmit a starting torque from a starter motor to a crankshaft of the internal combustion engine. A ring gear of the mechanism transmits the starting torque, and a one-way clutch (including an inner ring and an outer ring) disposed between the ring gear and the crankshaft. The ring gear comprises lubrication holes allowing lubricant to transfer from the internal combustion engine towards the one-way clutch. The torque transmission mechanism comprising at least one sealing element adapted to prevent lubricant from passing between an outer surface of the one-way clutch outer ring and a ring gear inner surface. The one-way clutch outer ring comprises a chamfered surface inclined with respect to a central axis of the mechanism and diverging respective to the central axis of the mechanism from the lubrication holes of the ring gear towards the sealing element.

    摘要: A starting system for a hybrid vehicle includes a pinion gear driven by a starter motor and a drive plate having a set of teeth in constant meshed engagement with the pinion gear. A one-way clutch assembly drivingly interconnects the drive plate and an engine crankshaft and includes an inner race fixed for rotation with the crankshaft, an outer race coupled for rotation with the drive plate and a plurality of rollers positioned radially therebetween. The outer race includes a first set of teeth drivingly engaging a second set of teeth on the drive plate and arranged to allow the outer race to rotate about an axis misaligned with an axis of rotation of the drive plate. A spring engages the drive plate and the outer race to urge the first and second sets of teeth into alignment with one another.
