Abstract: A vehicle has a frame, a front suspension assembly, a pair of skis, an endless drive track, and an internal combustion engine. The engine has: a motor-generator having a rotor and a stator, the motor-generator being operable in motor mode and in generator mode; a recoil starter operable to rotate a crankshaft of the engine via the rotor in a same direction as does the motor-generator in generator mode; at least one sensor adapted for sensing at least one engine parameter; and an engine control unit (ECU) receiving a signal from the at least one sensor, the ECU controlling a rotation of the crankshaft by one of the motor-generator and the recoil starter based on the signal. The vehicle also has a display for displaying a message when the crankshaft is to be rotated by the recoil starter.

Abstract: An ATS includes an SCR device and is connected to an internal combustion engine so as to receive an exhaust gas flow from at least one cylinder of the internal combustion engine when fuel is injected and combusted in such cylinder; an NH3 storage is increased in such SCR device after an engine shut off command has been detected, such that an increased NH3 storage is ready for a subsequent cold start of the internal combustion engine; the increase of NH3 storage is carried out by injecting a reducing agent in the ATS and by supplying an air flow towards the SCR device; such air flow flows through the cylinder after the fuel injection has been shut off.

The crankcase accommodates the crankshaft therein. The generator includes a rotor that rotates together with the crankshaft and a stator facing the rotor. The generator generates electric power by rotation of the rotor. The sensor detects a rotation position of the rotor. The coolant passage includes an ejection port, guides a coolant to the ejection port, and ejects the coolant from the ejection port toward the sensor.

Abstract: A movable iron core, a primary attracting and holding coil, a resistor electrically connected to an upstream start-up electric contact, and an auxiliary attracting and holding coil electrically connected to the upstream start-up electric contact are included. The movable iron core displaces a pinion from a separated position to a contact position. After the pinion is displaced from the separated position to the contact position, the upstream start-up electric contact is electrically disconnected from another start-up electric contact to cut off a current to the motor, and the movable iron core displaces the pinion from the contact position to an engaged position with the magnetomotive force of the primary attracting and holding coil and a magnetomotive force of the auxiliary attracting and holding coil. After the pinion is displaced from the contact position to the engaged position, main electric contacts are electrically connected to resume electric connection to the motor.

Abstract: A vehicle control apparatus comprises an engine, a starter, an accessory battery, and a high-voltage battery. The vehicle control apparatus is equipped with a DC-DC converter that is connected between the accessory battery and the high-voltage battery, a capacitor that is connected to a circuit on a side of the high-voltage battery, a high-voltage battery determination portion, and a startup control portion. The startup control portion executes power boost-startup control, whereby an output voltage of the accessory battery is boosted by the DC-DC converter, the capacitor is charged with necessary electrical energy for starting the engine by using an output voltage of the DC-DC converter, and the starter is driven to start the engine by using the electrical energy charged in the capacitor.

Abstract: A marine propulsion device includes an internal combustion engine driving a driveshaft into rotation and a starter-generator motor in a torque transmitting relationship with the driveshaft. The starter-generator motor is alternately operable in a positive torque mode where it is powered by a battery to exert a positive torque on the driveshaft, and in a negative torque mode where it exerts a negative torque on the driveshaft and generates a charge to the battery. A control module is configured to receive an engine RPM, determine an engine RPM drop rate, and determine that the engine RPM drop rate exceeds a threshold drop rate. The starter-generator motor is then operated in a positive torque mode based on the engine RPM drop rate when the engine RPM drop rate exceeds the threshold drop rate.

Abstract: Disclosed is an electric starter with a manual turning function. A main shaft, a drive gear mechanism, a shift fork, an electromagnetic relay guide rod and a first return spring are arranged in a housing of the electric starter. A gear shifting mechanism comprises a force receiving component which extends out of the housing of the electric starter and serves as an external force applying point so as to promote the electromagnetic relay guide rod to move rightwards, a normally closed switch for cutting off a power supply of the electric starter when the force receiving component moves to an extreme position, a positioning component for locking the force receiving component when the force receiving component moves to the extreme position, and a first return component which enables the force receiving component to automatically returns to an original state when the force receiving component is unlocked. The main shaft is indirectly driven to rotate by the turning mechanism via a transmission mechanism or directly driven to rotate by the turning mechanism via a turning tool. An improvement is made to a structure of a traditional electric starter without affecting existing functions thereof, i.e., a function of manual turning is added. Therefore, a flywheel gear of a motor can be precisely positioned during maintenance so as to improve efficiency and eliminate potential safety hazards.

Abstract: A hydraulic excavator (1) includes a wireless authentication device (42) performing wireless authentication with a portable key device (41) and a vehicle body controller (39) allowing or prohibiting start of the engine (15) on the basis of authentication by the wireless authentication device (42) and an operation of a power switch (12). The wireless authentication device (42) transmits a request signal within an authenticable range and performs authentication when it receives an ID code for authentication replied from the portable key device (41) on the basis of the transmitted request signal. The vehicle body controller (39) allows start of the engine (15) by the power switch (12) when a gate lock lever (13) is switched to a lock position and the wireless authentication device (42) performs authentication by the portable key device (41).
