摘要: An adaptive lighting system for an automotive vehicle. The adaptive lighting system has a wavelength conversion device for receiving the light radiation (L) from the primary source and re-emitting white light radiation (B). An optical imaging system receives the white light (B) re-emitted by the wavelength conversion device and projects this light (B) in front of the vehicle to form a lighting beam, the wavelength conversion device being situated close to a focal plane of the optical imaging system, and the scanning system and the optical system being situated on the same side or on opposite sides of the wavelength conversion device. An intensity of the white light radiation (B) emitted by the wavelength conversion device is capable of being modulated between a minimum value and a maximum value, and the scanning is performed at variable speed.

摘要: In described examples of an automotive headlamp, a first illumination source outputs a first color light, and a second illumination source outputs a second color light different from the first color light. A digital micromirror device receives the first color light and the second color light and reflects the first color light and the second color light. A projection optics receives reflected light from the digital micromirror device and outputs a beam from the automotive headlamp having a color that is a combination of the first and second colors. A controller controls intensity and duration of the first illumination source and the second illumination source, controls a pattern on the digital micromirror device, and spectrally tunes the color of the output beam.

摘要: A light distribution method is for an adaptive driving beam headlamp system including a light emitting device, an on-board camera and an electronic control unit. The light distribution method includes: obtaining data indicative of a state in front of a vehicle by the on-board camera; computing one or more of: attributes of an object in front of the vehicle; attributes of a vehicle ahead; a speed of the vehicle ahead; a distance between vehicles; brightness of the object; and a road shape; determining a light distribution pattern; determining a control amount indicative of at least one of an ON or OFF state of each of the light emitting elements and an applied power to each of the light emitting elements according to the light distribution pattern determined; and controlling driving of the adaptive driving beam headlamp system based on the control amount determined.

The light source emits at least one collimated light beam, and the beam expander is located in a propagation path of the collimated light beam for receiving and expanding the collimated light beam to form an expanded light beam. The light processing unit is located in a propagation path of the expanded light beam for receiving the expanded light beam and a control signal and adjust an intensity profile of the expanded light beam according to the control signal, and a non-uniform projection unit converts the expanded light beam adjusted by the processor into a light beam having a non-uniform intensity profile.

摘要: A laser lighting system has a first laser light source, a second laser light source and a light conversion element. The outputs from the first and second laser light sources are directed to the light conversion element, which generates wavelength-converted light output in response to excitation by laser light. The first and second laser light sources generate laser light of different wavelength having different absorption characteristics within the light conversion element, such that the range of depths within the light conversion element from which wavelength-converted light is generated is different. This difference in converted output can be used to create different optical effects so that beam steering or beam shaping can be performed.

摘要: A first photosensor is sensitive to the wavelength of excitation light, insensitive to the wavelength of fluorescent light, and receives a portion of the output light to generate a first current corresponding to the amount of light received. A second photosensor is sensitive to the fluorescent light wavelength, insensitive to excitation light wavelength, and receives a portion of the output light to generate a second current corresponding to the received light amount. A first current/voltage conversion circuit outputs a first detection voltage corresponding to the voltage drop across a first resistor. A second current/voltage conversion circuit outputs a second detection voltage corresponding to the voltage drop across a second resistor. If (i) a relation between the magnitudes of the first detection voltage and the second detection voltage has reversed, or (ii) if the first detection voltage deviates from a normal voltage range, a judgment unit asserts an abnormality detection signal.

摘要: A luminaire includes a phosphor that emits non-coherent, visible light when excited, a laser diode that emits a laser beam to excite the phosphor, and a driver that outputs electrical DC power at or above the voltage level necessary to drive the laser diode. The current output from the driver to the laser diode is modulated with a code, preferably a random generated code. A visible light sensor detects light emitted from the phosphor and provides a feedback signal, which contains the code under normal operation. If the proper code is not detected in the feedback signal, power output to the laser diode is immediately ceased or reduced to a level safe for the human eye.
