摘要： A method has been discovered for recovering data recorded on magnetic recording tape wherein adjacent layers have become adhered after long storage times, even at recommended storage conditions. The method comprises localized heating of the tape in an amount sufficient to break hydrogen (physical) bonding between the binder and the film backing. A continuous tension is applied to the tape, while withdrawing it from the spool to break residual adhesion. The spool is turned at a rate of speed sufficient to carry away heat so that the film does not reach the heat distortion temperature.

摘要： A magnetic record disk assembly includes a floppy disk located within a rigid case having integral case stiffeners, wiping force appliers and floppy disk stabilizers. Wipers made of fabric, cleaning material are located within the case and disk flexure creates frictional force between the wipers and the disk. Thus, the wipers clean contaminants from the disk during rotation thereof within the case. A simple, automatic, cam-actuated shutter covers a transducer access slot in the case. This shutter is restrained by a detent to prevent undesired movement. A modified form of shutter has a compression spring that facilitates assembly of the shutter. A write protect device is located within the case. This device includes a piece that is mounted to rotate through an arc of 180.degree. in a plane perpendicular to a side surface of the case for opening and closing a sensing aperture within the case.

摘要： In a tape cassette, particularly a video tape cassette, equalization of electrostatic charges between the two faces of the tape is effected by a connector element or connector elements electrically connecting at least one of two electrically conducting guide elements contacting the front of the tape and provided on the two sides, respectively, of the cassette with at least the associated one of two electrically conducting tape deflecting elements provided in the two respective front corners of the tape cassette. In this manner sticking of the tape to the deflecting elements due to electrostatic attraction therebetween and also the build-up of electrostatic charges along the tape path parallel to the front of the cassette housing due to the transporting of such charges from the deflecting elements as a result of the tape travel, are counteracted.

The pre-conditioning comprises running the head-disk assembly for at least several minutes at a low velocity of, e.g. 200 to 400 rpm, in a dry gas atmosphere. By this pre-conditioning the lifetime of lubricated head-disk assemblies is increased.

摘要： A video tape cassette includes a case or housing formed by upper and lower mating case sections of molded plastics material. A tape supply reel and a take-up reel are supported for rotation within the housing, and a prerecorded magnetic tape is wound onto the supply reel. The leading end portion of the tape extends around guide rollers along a predetermined path to the take-up reel, and a tape erasing element or magnet is supported within the housing to erase the prerecorded material from the tape as it is wound onto the take-up reel and thereby provide for only one time use of the prerecorded material.
