Abstract: In embodiments of an imaging structure with embedded light sources, an imaging structure includes a silicon backplane with a driver pad array. The embedded light sources are formed on the driver pad array in an emitter material layer, and the embedded light sources can be individually controlled at the driver pad array to generate and emit light. A conductive material layer over the embedded light sources forms a p-n junction between the emitter material layer and the conductive material layer. Micro lens optics can be positioned over the conductive material layer to direct the light that is emitted from the embedded light sources. Further, the micro lens optics may be implemented as parabolic optics to concentrate the light that is emitted from the embedded light sources.

Abstract: In embodiments of a flexible display extendible assembly, an extendible assembly includes a slideable display guide integrated in a first housing part of an extendible electronic device. The extendible electronic device includes a flexible display that slide-engages into the first housing part of the extendible electronic device. The extendible assembly includes an extendible mechanism that is coupled in a second housing part of the extendible electronic device and to the slideable display guide. The first and second housing parts of the extendible electronic device slide-engage relative to each other. The extendible mechanism is implemented to extend as the first and second housing parts slide apart relative to each other, and also to retract as the first and second housing parts slide together relative to each other.

Abstract: In embodiments of a flexible display overcenter assembly, an overcenter assembly includes a first flange integrated in a first housing part of a foldable electronic device. The device includes a flexible display, and the first housing part is integrated with a first section of the flexible display. The overcenter assembly also includes a second flange integrated in a second housing part of the foldable electronic device, and the second housing part is integrated with a second section of the flexible display. The first and second flanges are implemented to fold and form a radius that supports the flexible display in a closed position of the device. Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed herein that are related to computer mice configured to track motion on smooth surfaces. For example, one disclosed embodiment provides an optical mouse comprising a light source configured to illuminate a tracking surface, an image sensor, and an array of lenses configured to superimpose a plurality of images of spatially different areas of the tracking surface onto the image sensor. The optical mouse further comprises a controller configured to receive a plurality of time-sequenced frames of image data from the image sensor, to detect motion of the mouse on the tracking surface from movement of one or more tracking features in the plurality of time-sequenced frames of image data, and to output a motion signal.

Abstract: A computer input device includes a light guide that illuminates a target area for imaging so as to permit tracking relative motion of a surface. The light guide also directs light to a window that is externally visible to a user of the device when the device rests upon a supporting surface. In one form, the light guide includes an entrance surface that receives light from a light source, together with two separated channels. The light guide directs a portion of the light incident upon the entrance surface through a first channel to the target area. The light guide further directs a portion of the incident light through a second channel so as to illuminate the window.

Abstract: A computer input device, such as an electronic mouse, having an optical projection system. The optical projection system is configured to project an image onto a supporting surface upon which the device rests. In one arrangement the optical projection system includes a light source, an image forming light blocker and optics. The optics may be collimating or non-collimating. In another arrangement the optical projection system may include an active LED matrix display. This system enables a use to personalize and/or customize his or her computer input device. Abstract: A scrolling apparatus is disclosed that includes a rotatable scroll wheel and a sensor assembly coupled mechanically through a flexible cable. The sensor assembly has an encoder wheel that rotates in response to rotation of the scroll wheel. The rotational axis of the encoder wheel is axially displaced from the rotational axis of scroll wheel, and the diameter of the encoder wheel may be greater than the diameter of a conventional encoder wheel. The differences in diameter of the scroll wheel and encoder wheel may be utilized to provide the scrolling apparatus with relatively high resolution. Abstract: An imaging lens unit has an imaging lens and an integral holder for a light source such as a LED. The imaging lens unit can include a body portion, with the imaging lens being formed as an integral part of the body portion, together with a light source support fixture also formed as an integral part of the body portion.
