To provide a center device for accommodating a variety of situations which may occur when a home-use game machine, or the like, is used, in which a plurality of users use their own controller devices such as an input device. A center device communicates between a plurality of controller devices, receives an instructing operation carried out by the user of each controller device, and executes processing according to the instructing operation. The center device selects at least one of the controller devices as a controller device to be authenticated from among the plurality of controller devices by utilizing communication with each of the plurality of controller devices, and conducts authentication processing relative to each of the controller devices while communicating with each of the selected controller device.

A playback apparatus and method that executes an application while playing back a digital stream. A mixer is configured to, when a flag included in a playlist is set to ON, mix an output of a click sound using sound data with an audio output of the digital stream when a user performs an operation on an application while the application is executed. When the flag is set to OFF, the mixer refrains from mixing the output of the click sound with the audio output.

A control device controls a swing action of flaps of an air conditioning apparatus. The flaps are swung up and down. The control device includes an operation mode determining section, a swing pattern storage area and a control command generator. The operation mode determining section determines at least an air-cooling operation mode and an air-warming operation mode that are operation modes of the air conditioning apparatus. The swing pattern storage area stores a plurality of swing patterns that include information pertaining to the swing action. The control command generator generates a control command of the air conditioning apparatus on the basis of a swing pattern corresponding to the mode determined by the operation mode determining section from among the plurality of swing patterns.

In conventional technology, when a program which operates in synchronization with reproduction of video and audio instructs a trick play of video and audio such as fast-forward and rewind, the trick play of the video and audio continues even after the program is terminated. This makes it impossible to cancel a redundant trick play which continues for an interval of time which is not expected by the program. In the present invention, a program which instructs a trick play of video and audio is retained, and when the program is terminated, it is determined whether or not the program has instructed the trick play, and if that program has instructed the trick play, the trick play of the video and audio is cancelled. As a result, it is possible to cancel such a redundant trick play which would otherwise continue for some interval of time which is not expected by the program.

The control units are configured to control the air conditioning facilities within the buildings. A group management system includes the group management apparatus and the control units.
