Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed from the perspective of a base station. In one embodiment, the method includes the base station transmitting to a UE a control signal associated with a reference signal for beam measurement, wherein the control signal includes a beam-related information for transmitting the reference signal for beam measurement. The method also includes the base station transmitting the reference signal for beam measurement to the UE.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for uplink transmission for a user equipment (UE) (e.g. mobile phone) in a wireless communication system are disclosed herein. The UE is scheduled to perform a transmission for a channel on a scheduled resource. If the scheduled resource overlaps with a configured resource for the UE, the UE transmits on the non-overlapping portion of the scheduled resource at the UE's regular transmission power level and transmits on the overlapping portion of the scheduled resource at a lower transmission power level.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for triggering a power headroom report for beam operation in a wireless communication system are disclosed herein. In one method, a user equipment (UE) uses multiple beams for transmission. The UEtriggers a power headroom report due to a change of a pathloss being larger than a threshold, wherein the pathloss is associated with a specific beam or a set of beams.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for user equipment beamforming operation in a wireless communication system. In one method, a user equipment receives a first configuration or a first scheduling to request the UE to perform a first Uplink (UL) transmission on a first UE beam, wherein the first UL transmission is to be performed in a first time unit. The UE receives a second configuration or a second scheduling to request the UE to perform a second UL transmission on a second UE beam, wherein the second UL transmission is to be performed in a second time unit. The UE performs the first UL transmission on the first UE beam and drops the second UL transmission on the second UE beam if the second time unit is at least partially overlapped with the first time unit.
Abstract:
Techniques for gaining initial access of a cell by a mobile device by using multiple numerologies associated with the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) are disclosed. The multiple numerologies are selected from numerologies that are both offered by the cell and which can be processed by the mobile device that is trying to gain the initial access. For example, one numerology can be used for the synchronization portion of the initial access and a different numerology can be use for the system information gathering and random access portions of the initial access. Also, upon gaining the initial access, the mobile device can be configured to use more numerologies for data communication, either simultaneously or one numerology at a time.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for performing uplink transmission in a wireless communication system. In one embodiment, the method includes the UE monitors a plurality of occasions for a DL control channel within a DL data region within one subframe, wherein a first control channel in a first occasion corresponds to a first UL data channel with a first duration, and wherein a second control channel in a second occasion corresponds to a second UL data channel with a second duration.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for implementing reference signal transmissions in a wireless communication system. In one embodiment, the method includes the cell, transmission point (TP), or transmission and reception point (TRP) broadcasting a first RS periodically for measurement, wherein the first RS is transmitted at multiple occasions (or timings) in each period on different beams. The method also includes the cell, TP, or TRP transmitting a second RS to a UE for PDCCH demodulation, wherein the second RS is transmitted on multiple beams in a beam set of the UE in a subframe (or symbol) in which the PDCCH is transmitted.
