Abstract:
An apparatus for applying a two-component liquid composition to a surface has a housing having an open end, an inner surface and an outer surface, an applicator retained in the housing and projecting through the open end, two containers removably mounted to the inner surface of the housing, each container having a dispensing nozzle extending through an aperture in the housing and arranged adjacent the applicator. There is a cutting device arranged on the housing adjacent the nozzles, the cutting device having at least one blade, wherein pressing the cutting device causes the blades to pierce the nozzles and allow contents of the containers to exit the containers and flow to the applicator.
Abstract:
A method and system for diagnosing and treating infection or disease, in which an individual takes a photograph of an infected or diseased area of a body using a camera connected to a microprocessor. The photograph is sent to a diagnosing center having a server with a second microprocessor and a database of photographs correlated with different diseases and infections. The second microprocessor scans the image received from the camera and compares it to the photographs in the database. If a match is found, the second microprocessor then notes the disease or bacteria corresponding to the matching photograph. The second microprocessor then searches an additional database correlated to the match, to further refine the diagnosis. The second microprocessor then searches the second database for a treatment corresponding to the identified disease or bacteria. Once a treatment is identified, information regarding this treatment is automatically sent to the individual's microprocessor.
Abstract:
A system and method for monitoring the state of an individual, in which a biological sensor is attached to the individual, and a wireless transmitter is attached to the sensor via a microprocessor. The transmitter transmits any changes in the biological state of the individual to a remote receiver. The remote receiver can be programmed to automatically send an alert to various entities, which can then send assistance.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for measuring feet and designing and creating orthopedic inserts are described. The method can include measuring a pressure the foot exerts during a stride at a plurality of points over a period of time, analyzing a pressure at the plurality of points over the period of time and designing the orthopedic insert based on the analysis. The system can include a device that measures a pressure exerted by a foot at a plurality of times at each of a plurality of points and a computer connected to the device, the computer having memory that stores the measured pressures and a program operable to analyze the measured pressures to create a design of an orthopedic insert.
Abstract:
An apparatus for playing signals received from the internet or other information highway on one or more speakers are described. The apparatus has a receiver for receiving information from a preselected address; a processor for interpreting the signals; a user interface for choosing between a connection to a personal computer and the preselected address; and at least one sound emitting device for playing the processed signal. The apparatus has an ornamental design on the outside which is related to the topic of the signals received from the address.
Abstract:
A method for teaching uses lectures performed at a remote location and transmitted to remote computers, in combination with remote teaching assistants. The method has the following steps: performing a lecture; capturing the lecture; transmitting the lecture to a plurality of remote locations either simultaneously with or at a later time than the lecture performance; providing students at each of the remote sites; providing an instructor at another remote site; displaying the lecture for viewing by the students; and providing remote educational support for the students by the instructor.
Abstract:
A phonics training system provides immediate, audible and virtual answers to questions regarding various images such as objects, animals and people, posed by a user when the user views such images on a video display terminal of the system. The system can provide virtual answers to questions without the need for an instruction or teacher and includes a computer having a video output terminal and an electronic library containing common answers to basic questions. This system can also include an artificial intelligence system.
Abstract:
A network adapted to target an individual operating a microcomputer that is linked to an Internet to offer this individual goods or services appropriate to his needs that are available at a place within reach of the individual's present location. The microcomputer is provided with a GPS receiver that indicates the present location of the individual, this location and the identity of the individual being transmitted from the microcomputer to a web site on the highway. At the web site, a computer associated with a data bank storing the profiles of a multitude of consumers is programmed to find out whether the identified individual is included in the data bank, and to determine from his profile whether there are available at a place reachable from his present location appropriate goods or services. If a match is found, an offer to supply such goods or services is conveyed from the web site to the microcomputer.
