摘要: An absolute length measuring apparatus comprising light sources, a beam splitter, an object of measurement, a scanning mirror, a light receiver, sampling parts and a distance measuring part. The light sources emit alternately a plurality of coherent light beams having different wavelengths. The beam splitter splits the coherent light beam from the light sources into two optical paths. The object of measurement is located on one of the two optical paths stemming from the beam splitter. The scanning mirror is located on the other optical path stemming from the beam splitter and made movable in the direction of optical axis. The light receiver receives both the reflected light beam from the object of measurement and the reflected light beam from the scanning mirror through the beam splitter. The sampling parts generate sampling signals of various wavelengths by sampling the output of the light receiver every time the light sources emit a coherent light beam while scanned by the scanning mirror. The distance measuring part assumes a synthetic wavelength signal having a wavelength sufficiently greater than any individually generated wavelength based on the phase relations of the sampling signals, and measures the distance to the object of measurement in accordance with the synthetic wavelength signal.

摘要: A laser scanner which includes a rotary polyhedral mirror for scanning a light beam from a laser light source, and an F.theta. lens system which includes first and second lenses through which the light beam is radiated onto a scanning plane. The first lens of the F.theta. lens system is provided on the rotary polyhedral mirror side and is constructed with a joined lens, to increase the degree of design of the first lens. This design freedom for the F.theta. lens system improves the F.theta. characteristic (i.e., characteristic of displacement on a scanning plane), the field curvature characteristic (i.e., characteristic of image defocusing on the scanning plane) and similar problems.

摘要: The rotating mirror light deflecting system employs a non-circular dynamic gas bearing providing dynamic pressure to radially support the shaft. The bearing is provided internally with a multiplicity of grooves or embankments whereby dynamic gas pressure is increased to enhance rigidity. The bearing radially moves as a whole with damping according to a movement of the shaft, thus permitting nondestructive movement of the shaft and absorption of the resonant energy of the shaft. The shaft and the bearing will not come in contact with each other, and oscillation energy of the shaft is absorbed or dissipated by an external viscous or hysteresis resistance of the bearing therefore resonance oscillation is attenuated on the instant it occurs. Since the resonance point is high due to bearing surface rigidity, whirling is hard to arise, however, if whirling does arise, then the bearing and the shaft move together to attenuate oscillation energy of the shaft, therefore oscillation and whirling is put down immediately.

摘要: A single-component developing method with the steps of forming a uniform developer layer and developing an electrostatic latent image. The uniform developer layer is formed by abutting a layer regulating member made of a plate of soft, elastic material against a developer carrier and by regulating the developer layer by urging at least one end edge on a portion of the layer regulating member against the devloper carrier. The electrostatic latent image is formed on a photosensitive material and is developed by moving a portion of the developer carrier with the uniform developer layer formed thereon opposite the photosensitive material.

摘要: A method of detecting a fault of an exhaust gas recirculation system of an internal combustion engine, comprising detecting a temperature relating to a temperature of a gas recirculating through the exhaust gas recirculation system when the system is in a condition in which the system should be operated to return part of an exhaust gas of the engine to an intake passage, and detecting that the exhaust gas recirculation system is defective when the detected temperature is lower than a fault discriminating value. A condition of air to be sucked into the engine, such as intake air temperature and atmospheric pressure, is detected, and the fault discriminating value is set in accordance with the detected air condition, whereby abnormality or fault of the exhaust gas recirculation system can be detected accurately and reliably. Preferably, the fault detection is inhibited until the engine temperature reaches a predetermined value and/or a predetermined time period elapses after the start-up of the engine, whereby erroneous fault detection can be prevented.

摘要: A recording optical system comprises: a laser light source; means for modulating an intensity of a laser beam emitted from the light source; means for shaping a cross sectional shape of the laser beam; means for controlling the modulating means and the shaping means; and deflecting and focusing means for focusing and scanning the shaped laser beam onto the scanning surface. The laser beam size in the direction (sub scanning direction) perpendicular to the scanning direction is varied on the scanning surface by the shaping means, during the recording operation.
