    摘要: A method and apparatus for generating channel quality information, such as may be used for transmit link adaptation, provide different operating modes, such as a first mode that may be used when propagation channel estimates are not reliable, and a second mode that may be used when the propagation channel estimates are reliable. In one or more embodiments, channel quality information is generated using receiver performance information that characterizes receiver performance in terms of a defined channel quality metric, e.g., supported data rates, for different values of receiver input signal quality over a range of propagation channel realizations. Channel quality information can be generated by selecting channel quality metrics according to receiver input signal quality and a desired probability of meeting a defined performance requirement over a range of propagation channel realizations, or by selecting channel quality metrics according to receiver input signal quality and particularized propagation channel realizations.

    摘要: The present invention relates to fast random access methods and arrangements for the enhanced uplink dedicated channel of E-UTRAN (Evolved Universal terrestrial radio access network). A user equipment (UE) being in a low activity state sends a random access request comprising a preamble on a physical random access channel (PRACH) to a NodeB. The NodeB receives the request and sends in response to the received random access request a response comprising information associated with detection of the preamble on an acquisition indicator channel (AICH). The response comprises further in an extension of the AICH an indication of an action to be taken by the UE. In an embodiment of the present invention the action is to access the E-DCH and the response comprises configuration parameters to the E-DCH.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a method and arrangement to enhance the communication performance in wireless communication systems. The method of the invention provides better adjustment of reported SINR in MIMO, and PARC-MIMO based communication systems. According to the method information relating to signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio is determined by the user equipment and reported to the base station. The base station adjust reported SINRs using a model of the SINR dependences of power and code allocation. The dependences is modeled by a function comprising a first parameter relating only to power allocation and a second parameter relating only to code allocation. The first parameter has a power allocation exponent and the second parameter has a code allocation exponent. Both the power allocation exponent and the code allocation exponent are data stream dependent.

    摘要: The present invention relates to control signaling in wireless communication systems. In particular, the present invention relates to control signaling in MIMO based communication systems. In the method according to the invention control information is transferred from a base station to at least one user equipment, via a plurality of common pilot channels. A set of unique pilot sequences has been pre-defined, and the base station assigns specific pilot sequences from the set of pilot sequences to specific common pilot channels, forming a pilot sequence assignment pattern representing a specific control information. The user equipment, having knowledge of the relations between pilot sequence assignment patterns and control information, interprets the received pilot sequence assignment pattern as specific control information. The method is particularly well suited for broadcast type control information.

    摘要: A system and method for determining a downlink transmit power level for a downlink signaling channel such as the E-DCH HARQ Indicator Channel (E-HICH) in a cellular radio communication network, wherein the transmit power level is calculated to achieve a desired signaling message error rate. The base station determines a diversity order of an uplink control channel from a mobile station, and sets the downlink E-HICH transmit power based on the desired signaling message error rate and the diversity order of the uplink control channel. Optionally, the base station may first determine whether the cell transmitting the E-HICH is the serving cell for the High-Speed Downlink Shared Channel (HS-DSCH). If so, the base station determines the downlink transmit power level for the downlink signaling channel as an offset from the reported Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) value.

The composite signal is received from the communications medium, and correlated with a desired spreading sequence to produce a plurality of time-offset correlations. Weighting factors are generated based on knowledge of spread spectrum signals in the composite signal. The correlations are combined according to the weighting factors to estimate information encoded in the transmitted spread spectrum signal. According to one aspect, a composite channel response is estimated from knowledge of the desired spreading sequence and an impairment correlation is determined from an estimate of power of an interfering spread spectrum signal and an estimate of power of noise in the composite signal. The composite channel response and impairment correlation are used to generate the weighting factors. According to another aspect, weighting factors are iteratively generated from an estimated channel response, an estimated impairment correlation, and previously determined weighting factors. Related apparatus are also described.

    摘要: A special coding scheme is disclosed for more effectively acquiring a long code and frame timing during a cell search in a CDMA communications system. A code set of length M Q-ary code words including symbols from a set of Q short codes is defined with certain properties. The primary property to be satisfied is that no cyclic shift of a code word yields a valid code word. The other properties to be satisfied are that there is a one-to-one mapping between a long code message and a valid code word, and a decoder should be able to find both the random shift (thereby implicitly finding the frame timing) and the transmitted code word (i.e., its associated long code indication message) in the presence of interference and noise, with some degree of accuracy and reasonable complexity.
