Abstract: The invention relates to a hinge comprising a moveable hinge section and a hinge section consisting of a fixed stop section, which are interconnected by at least one joint axis, and comprising a damping device mounted on one of the hinge sections whose translationally or rotatably moveable damping member is acted upon at least in the closure region of the hinge via gear means from the other hinge section. According to the invention for adjustment of the moveable damping member depending on the tilt of the moveable hinge section relative to the at least one joint axis, there is provided at least three moveable gear members are provided, of which one is the damping member itself.

Abstract: A sliding door (B) that is operated with a door drive is moved with the aid of a lever arm (A) that is driven by a motor (M) via a gear. The end positions of the door, as well as two intermediate positions, are detected with mechanical switches (C) that are actuated by a cam disk (K). The mechanical switches (C) form a redundant safety system and, if necessary, can be omitted. A non-contacting sensor (S) is used independent of the mechanical switches (C). For the purpose of detecting the position, the sensor can fully replace the mechanical switches (C) and the cam disk (K) for actuating these switches. With the aid of a transmitting wheel (D) and the sensor (S), it is possible to draw a conclusion relating to the rotational speed as well as the door position. A central data processing unit (CPU) permits the control and adjustment of the door drive. A diagnostic evaluation of the door drive with respect to required maintenance operations is furthermore possible with the central data processing unit (CPU).

Abstract: A door operating mechanism for operating longitudinal doors of a railroad hopper car. The mechanism includes operating members that are coupled to ends of the doors. These operating members are each actuated by a separate actuating device that is coupled to a top surface of a sill of the hopper car. Door supports have one end coupled to a door and an opposite end coupled for rotation to an actuating device. When a power cylinder coupled to the operating member is activated, the actuating devices are rotated. This rotation causes the door supports to shift in opposite directions and to open the longitudinal doors.
