Abstract:
When a plurality of image communication apparatuses, especially digital cameras, communicate images, each of the users of the receiving digital cameras can pull desired images from an image transmitting camera. In an image communicating method in which an image can be communicated by wireless in a server-client system, an image is displayed on a server camera, and an image is selected from among displayed images for transmission to a client camera. Pressing of the release button of the client camera instructs the client camera to transmit to the server camera a request to send an image to the server camera. The client camera transmits the request to send an image to the server camera. The server camera transmits the selected image to the client camera. Thus, the user of the client camera can obtain a desired image from the server camera.
Abstract:
This invention has as its object to reduce network traffic when a remote copy process is done using network devices. To achieve this object, a computer (13) acquires stub drivers (610, 612) from image input/output devices (12-1, 12-2) (S1601, S1602), and sends the stub driver (610) to the image input/output device (12-1) (S1605). The image input/output device (12-1) drives the image input/output device (12-2) by executing the received printer stub driver (610), sends scanned data, and makes the image input/output device (12-2) print the data.
Abstract:
A method and system for automatically configuring a hand-held electronic device for accessing a site on a public network is disclosed. The method and system include establishing a connection to a website server, which is responsible for establishing and maintaining website accounts, and sending information uniquely identifying the electronic device to the website server. The server then sends user account information to the device, including an account ID and password, created based on the electronic device information. The user account information is then stored on electronic device for use the next time the electronic device accesses the website, whereby the user does not have to enter account information in order to establish the ISP connection or the website account before accessing the public network.
Abstract:
When a command packet for an image forming apparatus is received, the image forming apparatus extracts information for specifying a source from the received packet, specifies the user who sends the command from the information, and decides the presence of the right to execute the command. When the user has the right, the command is received. When the user does not have the right, the command is not received. Thereby, an unintentional access from an outsider is rejected so that confidential information can be prevented from leaking.
Abstract:
An image processing system is disclosed, wherein a demountable image pickup apparatus comprises operating means such as a keyboard, a portable computer having control means that is a CPU, image pickup means, and program storage means, which is a ROM or RAM, for storing programs to be run by the control means, and wherein imaging is effected with the image pickup apparatus mounted on an information processing apparatus.
Abstract:
A data transmission system where an image providing device and a printer are directly connected by a 1394 serial bus, a command is sent from the image providing device to the printer, then a response to the command is returned from the printer to the image providing device. Image data is sent from the image providing device to the printer based on information included in the response. The printer converts the image data outputted from the image providing device into print data. Thus, printing can be performed without a host computer by directly connecting the image providing device and the printer by the 1394 serial bus or the like.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for double-sided scanning of a paper document comprising diagonally offset scanner and traction pinch roller pairs thereby forming a zero-gravity traction feed. The zero-gravity traction feed allows the scanning apparatus to be oriented in varying positions while maintaining full operation. The scanner is adapted to scan a two-sided document by flip-flopping between two scanners whose field of views each face opposing sides of the document.
Abstract:
A simplified electronic camera and printer imaging system is provided that includes a single intelligence circuit preferably in the form of a PC card that is detachably connectable to either the camera or the printer for converting a data stream generated by the imaging sensor of the camera into stored data when connected to the camera, and converting the stored data into printer instructions, and relaying the printer instructions to the printhead when connected to the printer. The use of a single intelligence circuit to operate both a digital camera and printer advantageously simplifies the structure of the system, reduces costs, and enhances reliability by minimizing processing steps and circuit interfaces. In the preferred embodiment, the PC card containing the intelligence circuit includes a liquid crystal display and manual controls for displaying stored or real time images, capturing or erasing images, scrolling through stored images, and commanding a printer to render the images in hard copy form.
Abstract:
A power control circuit (120) is driven by electric power supplied from a controller (200) as an external device via a cable (150), and controls opening/closure of a switch (104) in accordance with instructions from the controller (200). A DC power supply (105) converts an AC voltage supplied via the switch 104 into a DC voltage and provides it to individual units such as a reader (140).
Abstract:
Each of a digital camera and a printer has an auto power saving function, shifts to a power saving mode when there is no operation of the user for predetermined time, and returns to a normal mode when there is any user operation. When the digital camera returns from the power saving mode to the normal mode, a WakeUp signal is transmitted to the printer. On receipt of the WakeUp signal, the printer returns to the normal mode. Also when the printer returns to the normal mode, the WakeUp signal is transmitted to the digital camera, and the digital camera returns to the normal mode. Thus, by returning one of the devices to the normal mode, both of the devices return to the normal mode, so that the devices can be more easily handled.
