    摘要: A microtome has a specimen holder which executes a vertical up and down movement relative to a cutting knife and which has a guide mechanism in which a sleeve is arranged so as to be horizontally displaceable. The sleeve is provided at its front end with a specimen clamping mechanism and in its interior with a micrometer nut which is secured against axial displacement and through which extends a micrometer spindle mounted on the guide mechanism. The micrometer nut has on its outer face a toothed ring which is connected operatively to a pinion connected to an electric motor. When the electric motor is activated the sleeve is displaced in the guide mechanism. The micrometer spindle extends, on the side opposite the specimen clamping mechanism, through the guide mechanism as a stub end on which is located a mechanical cutting-thickness advance mechanism. This advances the sleeve together with the specimen clamping mechansim, by a cutting-thickness set from outside the microtome, always in an uppermost position of the specimen holder.

    摘要: An improved plural axis motion controller (34) is disclosed for controlling servos (14, 16) to move an object (18) such as a flame cutter along a predetermined path. A microcomputer (42) periodically reads the location of the object from position counters (56, 58) and recalculates new velocity control signals for application to the servos in order to cause the object to follow the predetermined path. The improvement is wherein the controller automatically modifies the velocity control signals so as to reduce the spurious velocity variations which the object would otherwise experience due to the nonuniform rate responses of the servos. A table of modifiers, determined during a prior calibration procedure, is stored in a calibration memory (60). The microcomputer selects an appropriate modifier for each velocity control signal in accordance with the direction and magnitude of that control signal and the servo to which it is to be directed.

    摘要: An electro-mechanical control system for controlling all of the movements of one or more slides on a single workhead grinding machine. A programmable controller is interfaced with a digital to analog converter or feed control which in turn controls a drive motor that is directly connected to a screw actuator means that directly controls the movements and positions of a slide. The positioning accuracy of the control system is derived from the accuracy of the electronic control components and the stability of the machine. The control system can control the operative movements of each slide in a compound slide assembly, simultaneously or independently, for a part of a grinding machine cycle. The compound slide assembly may alternatively carry a rotating grinding wheel or a workhead that is reciprocated at high speed for a grinding operation on a workpiece.

    摘要: A drilling apparatus includes a drilling rod, a feed motor for advancing and retreating the rod in relation to an object to be drilled, and a control system for controlling the movement of the rod. The control system includes a pulse generator for producing one long duration pulse upon completion of each rotation of the drilling rod, an oscillator for producing high frequency pulses, a counter for counting the number of high frequency pulses during the long duration pulse, and a control circuit for controlling the feed motor in response to the counted number of pulses, the control system operating so that the counted number of high frequency pulses equals a predetermined number during the period of the long duration pulse.The control system is arranged to increase the advancing force of the drilling rod when its rotational speed increases (i.e.-when the counted number of high frequency pulses decrease) and the control system is arranged to decrease the advancing force of the drilling rod when its rotational speed decreases (i.e.-when the counted number of high frequency pulses increase). Thus, the control system stabilizes the rotational speed of the drilling rod by advancing and retreating the rod, thereby optimizing the drilling operation.

    摘要: The intermittent movement of the printer's carriage and "daisy"-type print wheel is controlled by a relatively simple, reliable digital control system. The difference between the desired velocity and the actual velocity of each member is measured digitally. This difference constitutes an error signal which is used to retrieve stored values of acceleration or deceleration corresponding to various values of the error signal. These values are used to develop a corresponding electrical signal which is used to accelerate or decelerate the member to reach the desired velocity. A relatively simple circuit is provided for reliably returning the carriage or print wheel to a desired position after overshooting the position, despite a relatively large amount of overshoot. Simple, low-power-consumption holding or drive circuits utilizing pulsed voltages are provided for the stepping motors used for ribbon feed and line feed, and for the solenoids used for ribbon shift, print wheel shift and print hammer energization. Digital control of the print hammer intensity is provided by controlling the duty cycle of the hammer energization signals in accordance with intensity values stored in memory.
