Abstract: Enhanced access data available in a cache. In one embodiment, a cache maintaining copies of source data is formed as a volatile memory. On receiving a request directed to the cache for a copy of a data element, the requested copy maintained in the cache is sent as a response to the request. In another embodiment used in the context of applications accessing databases in a navigational model, a cache maintains rows of data accessed by different user applications on corresponding connections. Applications may send requests directed to the cache to retrieve copies of the rows, populated potentially by other applications, while the cache restricts access to rows populated by other applications when processing requests directed to the source database system. In another embodiment, an application may direct requests to retrieve data elements caused to be populated by activity on different connections established by the same application.

Abstract: A remote authoring service is described. Remote page authoring includes receiving a stream of data from a server that includes embedded control attribute data. The embedded control attribute data facilitates the generation of a proxy control and allows a web page designer to make modifications to dynamic elements of the webpage without requiring the executable code for the actual controls. The proxy control may provide preview data of the control to allow the client to perform authoring functions using the proxy control. Modifications made via the proxy control service may then be transmitted to the server where the controls are updated.

Abstract: A paperboard product having at least one layer of bleached or semi-bleached pulp and having improved smoothness and reduced bulk loss. For paperboard having sizing without pigment, the smoothness on the printed side, measured by the Parker test is better (lower) than 6.5 when measured using a pressure of 10 kgf/cm2 while the smoothness measured by the Hagerty/Sheffield test is not below 280 Sheffield units. For paperboard having sizing with pigment, the Parker smoothness is less than 5.0 and the Hagerty/Sheffield smoothness is not less than 180 Sheffield units. The web is finished by applying temperature and moisture gradients, then smoothing the web surface using extended nip calendering. The surface temperature of the calendering roll is maintained at 250-400° F. Prior to entering the extended nip, the web surface is moisturized using steam showers. The nipload applied in the heated extended nip is preferably between 300 to 2,500 pli.
