摘要: A variable valve timing adjuster with an intermediate lock mechanism learns a lock position and a lock release control. During a lock control, a learning of the lock position from a real camshaft phase is repeated to update the learned value, and the learning is ended when it is judged that the learned values have converged. At this time, when the learned values of the lock position do not converge even if the number of learning of the lock position exceeds a predetermined value, an insufficient lock state is judged, and the learned value of the lock position is set to an initial value or the learned value at the previous lock control thereby to make a lock release control. During the lock release control, on the other hand, the control (or the lock release control) of a hydraulic control valve is learned. When the lock cannot be released during the lock release control, the lock release control (or the learned value) is corrected in a direction to facilitate the lock release. When the correction of the lock release control is repeated a predetermined or more number of times or when the lock release control goes outside a predetermined range, the lock release failure is judged.

摘要: The reflective surface of a reflector 16 is divided through steps into a plurality of vertically elongated reflective surface elements. In each of those reflective surface elements, the light incidence section to which the output light of a light source bulb is applied is made up a convex cylindrical curved surface and a concave cylindrical curved surface which are arranged substantially in parallel with the step adjacent to the light incidence section. Accordingly, when the lamp is turned on, and the reflector is observed from the front, the light incidence sections function as follows; that is, the apex portions of the cylindrical curves surfaces look glittered as bright sections. Therefore, the reflective surface looks more sparkling.

摘要: In a variable valve control device, the minimum operating hydraulic pressure necessary for controlling the vane rotor is arranged to be higher than that for axially moving the piston member. Thus, whenever the angular phase is actually changed, the hydraulic pressure sufficient enough to move the piston member may be always ready to be applied to the axial movement control member. Therefore, when the intake camshaft is at the lowest lift stroke position, the intake camshaft may be easily shifted from the lowest lift stroke position to the higher lift stroke position without time delay so that a highly accurate angular phase control of the intake camshaft relative to the timing pulley may be secured.

摘要: An ink refilling method for refilling the ink into an ink cartridge comprising an ink guiding member and an ink absorbing member, includes the following steps of preparing an ink refilling apparatus for refilling the ink into the ink absorbing member disposed within the ink storing portion of the ink cartridge, through an ink guiding member, wherein an ink refilling apparatus includes a refill ink storing portion for storing the refill ink; an air ventilating portion for allowing communication between the refill ink storing portion and the atmospheric air; a sealing member for sealing the air ventilating portion; an ink injecting portion to be inserted into the ink delivery port portion of the ink cartridge; an opening portion for guiding the ink out of the refill ink storing portion, being provided on the ink injecting portion; and a pressure generating device for increasing the internal pressure of the refill ink storing portion; inserting the ink injecting portion of the ink refilling apparatus into the ink delivery port portion of the ink cartridge; breaking the meniscus formed at the opening portion of the ink refilling apparatus with the use of the pressure generating device, so that the ink within the refill ink storing portion of the ink refilling apparatus is guided toward the ink guiding material of the ink cartridge; and removing the sealing member covering the air ventilation portion, so that the ink can naturally descend into the ink storing portion of the ink cartridge.

摘要: A support structure for a motorcycle's rearview mirror is constructed so as to dampen any vibrations which would normally be transmitted to the rearview mirror, and to reduce the risk of rattling noises in the rearview mirror assembly. The support structure includes a mirror stay, in the form of an elongated tubular extension, which serves to distance the rearview mirror from the motorcycle. One end of the mirror stay is connected to the motorcycle through a mirror stay supporting structure, which allows the mirror stay to rotate within a limited range. A rearview mirror housing is connected to the other end of the mirror stay. The connection between the mirror stay and the rearview mirror housing is accomplished by a rearview mirror main body supporting structure. The rearview mirror main body supporting structure allows the mirror housing to assume various orientations relative to the mirror stay. The rearview mirror main body supporting structure is characterized by two engaging spherical surfaces which are spring biased toward each other, and which may be adjusted relative to each other. The two surfaces ensure a stable, adjustable connection between the mirror housing and the mirror stay.

摘要: A one-chip CPU (Central Processing Unit) includes a program counter, a built-in inside memory, a gate circuit, a decode circuit, and an inside bus. The program counter is connected to the inside bus and built-in memory while the memory is connected to the decode circuit via the gate circuit. Further, the program counter is connected to the gate circuit. When the logical value of the program counter is representative of the built-in memory, an inhibit signal is not fed to the gate circuit. However, when the logical level is representative of an outside memory, the inhibit signal is fed to the gate circuit so as to close it. As a result, the gate circuit obstructs the flow of data from the built-in memory. This protects data stored in the built-in memory from illicit access.
