摘要: An internal combustion engine includes a cylinder including a piston connected to a rotatable crankshaft, an air guide arranged to guide an air flow to the cylinder an adjustable air flow restriction element arranged to restrict the How through the air guide, an exhaust guide being arranged to guide a gas flow from the cylinder, an adjustable exhaust flow restriction element arranged to restrict the flow through the exhaust guide, an exhaust valve arranged to control a communication between the cylinder and the exhaust guide, and an exhaust valve actuation assembly for actuating the exhaust valve so as to perform in each of a plurality of cycles of the cylinder an exhaust valve actuation sequence, wherein the exhaust valve actuation assembly is adapted to control the commencement of the exhaust valve actuation sequence to occur selectively at any crankshaft angle within a non-zero crankshaft angle interval.

摘要: A method of transitioning between two intake valve lift states while providing constant engine torque output comprehends the steps of receiving a lift change request from an engine control device, determining the current phase angles of the camshafts, and determining whether the intake and exhaust camshafts are at transition positions. The transition positions are experimentally or empirically determined combinations of operating conditions that result in constant engine torque output before and after the intake valve lift transition. If they are, an appropriate, i.e., low to high or high to low cam lift state transition of the intake valves occurs. If they are not, the cam phasers move the intake and exhaust camshafts to transition positions. When the cam phasers have moved the intake and exhaust camshafts to the transition positions, i.e., positions of constant engine torque output, the intake valve lift transitions from high to low or low to high.

摘要: A method of operating a cam shaft phaser including a stator including a radially inwardly extending protrusion, a rotor including a radially outwardly extending protrusion and a slot in the radially outwardly extending protrusion, a cover non-rotatably connected to the stator, a chamber circumferentially bounded by the radially inwardly extending protrusion and the radially outwardly extending protrusion, a pin disposed in the slot, and a first channel connecting the chamber with the slot. The method comprises: blocking, with the locking pin, rotation of the rotor with respect to the stator; applying pulse width modulation voltage to a control valve as a non-rectangular wave form; flowing fluid from the control valve to the chamber; flowing the fluid through the first channel to the slot; axially displacing the locking pin with the fluid; disengaging the locking pin from the cover; and rotating the rotor with respect to the stator.

摘要: A method for operating an engine system is provided, the method may include varying a compression ratio of a cylinder by selectively releasing combustion charge from the cylinder through a cylinder bleed valve of a cylinder head, the cylinder bleed valve coupled to a bleed manifold with a turbine-generator, and varying combustion charge flow through a turbine-generator bypass conduit bypassing the turbine-generator based on engine operating conditions. In this way, the compression ratio may be varied by selectively bleeding combustion charge from the cylinder based on engine operating conditions to promote better engine performance. Additionally, the combustion charge bleed from the cylinder can routed around a turbine-generator to increase combustion efficiency during certain operating conditions, such as during start-up, to further improve engine performance.

摘要: A method for controlling valve timing is provided for an engine including a continuous variable valve duration device disposed on an intake valve side, and a continuous variable valve duration device and continuous variable valve timing device disposed on an exhaust valve side. The method includes: classifying first, second, third, fourth, and fifth control regions depending on an engine speed and an engine load; applying a maximum duration to an intake valve and controlling a valve overlap in the first control region; applying the maximum duration to the intake valve and exhaust valve in the second control region; controlling a manifold absolute pressure (MAP) of an intake manifold to be maintained consistently in the third control region; controlling a wide open throttle valve (WOT) and retarding an exhaust valve opening (EVO) timing in the fourth control region; and controlling the WOT and retarding an intake valve closing (IVC) timing in the fifth control region.

摘要: A method for controlling valve timing is provided for a turbo engine provided with a continuous variable valve duration (CVVD) device, a two stage variable valve duration device (VVD) and a continuous variable valve timing (CVVT) device. The method includes: classifying control regions; retarding an intake valve closing (IVC) timing and controlling an exhaust valve to limit a valve overlap in a first region; applying a maximum duration to an intake valve and applying a long duration to the exhaust valve in a second region; applying the long duration to the exhaust valve and advancing the IVC timing in a third region; controlling a throttle valve to be fully opened, applying a short duration to the exhaust valve and retarding an exhaust valve opening (EVO) timing in a fourth region; and controlling the throttle valve to be fully, applying the long duration to the exhaust valve and retarding the IVC timing in a fifth region.

摘要: A method for controlling intake and exhaust valves of an engine may include: determining, by a controller, a target opening duration of the intake and exhaust valves according to a control region determined based on an engine load and an engine speed; modifying, by an intake continuous variable valve duration (CVVD) device and by an exhaust CVVD device, opening and closing timings of the intake valve and exhaust valve based on the target opening duration of the valves; and advancing or retarding, by the intake and/or exhaust CVVD devices, the opening timing of the intake and exhaust valves while simultaneously retarding or advancing the closing timing of the intake and exhaust valve by a predetermined value based on the target opening durations. In particular, the controller classifies five control regions based on the engine load and speed.
