Abstract:
Various embodiments include multi-subscription multi-standby (MSMS) communication devices and methods for managing a tune-away by a radio frequency (RF) resource supporting a first subscription to support a second subscription. A device processor may monitor a data loss during a first burst of a segment of a broadcast data stream received using the first subscription by the MSMS communication device. The device processor may calculate a permitted data loss of the segment of a broadcast data stream. The device processor may reserve one or more subframes in a second burst of the segment based on the permitted data loss, and the device processor may prevent a tune-away of the RF resource from the first subscription to the second subscription during the reserved one or more subframes of the second burst.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided for smooth transition between broadcast/multicast transmission and unicast transmission. A method for managing unicast and multicast services switching in a multi-band/multi-frequency wireless communications system (WCS) capable of both unicast and multicast signaling includes determining whether an aggregate demand for a content provided via dedicated unicast transmissions exceeds a threshold. The method includes switching transmission of the content from the dedicated unicast transmissions on one frequency to a multicast transmission on a second or more frequencies in response to determining that the aggregate demand exceeds the threshold.
Abstract:
A method for wireless communications at a user equipment includes determining whether high speed data has been scheduled by determining whether a scheduling channel has been enabled. The method also includes adjusting a clock speed based on a presence or an absence of the scheduling channel. The clock speed is adjusted without decoding the scheduling channel.
Abstract:
Embodiments include systems and methods for managing tune-way in a multi-subscription communication device. A processor of a multi-subscription communication device may determine a first signal strength of a first cell signal and a second signal strength of a second cell signal. The processor may perform a tune-away procedure to a weaker of the first cell signal and the second cell signal. Embodiments may include determining signal strengths of each component carrier of the first cell signal and the second cell signal.
Abstract:
Dynamic forward error correction (FEC) setting is discussed in which the network determines a FEC percentage for each video segment of a video streaming service, based on consideration of the transfer length of the video segment and the allocated bandwidth. When the transfer length and allocated bandwidth reflect transmission of less than peak bandwidth, the network will determine a higher FEC percentage that uses the otherwise wasted bandwidth to transmit additional redundancy symbols. The additional redundancy symbols increase the error recovery rate when collisions occur between streaming video reception and page monitoring occasions of other networks in multi-network, multi-subscriber identification module (SIM) mobile devices. A network entity may then transmit the dynamic FEC percentage for each video segment in the file description table (FDT) associated with the video streaming service.
Abstract:
A method of wireless communication determines whether the timing of a non-serving RAT is known. When the timing is known and it is time to report on the non-serving RAT, the UE clears enough consecutive time slots to verify the identity of the base station in the non-serving RAT. During the cleared time slots the identity of the base station is verified. When the timing is unknown and it is time to report on the non-serving RAT, a UE clears enough consecutive time slots to measure the timing of the non-serving RAT and to verify the identity of a base station in the non-serving RAT. During the cleared time slots, the timing is acquired and the identity of the base station is verified.
Abstract:
The various embodiments enable a mobile device to determine the available services in a broadcast network based on an augmented coverage configuration file. In the various embodiments, the augmented coverage configuration file correlates the services for overlapping cells on different frequency carriers enabling the mobile device to determine the available services without having to scan additional frequency carriers.
Abstract:
Transfer of Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Services (MBMS) over a Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) service and idle mode unicast service for a mobile entity from a source base station to a target base station may be managed by a base station or mobile entity of a cellular wireless communications system (WCS). Operations related to the transfer may include obtaining an MBMS status of the mobile entity, and/or obtaining MBMS support information for the base station. A network entity may facilitate MBMS discovery by a mobile entity, by transmitting a data element to the mobile entity including service identifiers mapped to corresponding cell identifiers to indicate respective MBMS services to be broadcast in an WCS area on adjacent cells identified by respective ones of the cell identifiers. The MBMS services may be broadcast within the WCS area using the adjacent cells previously indicated in the data element.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for determining a quality estimation of a wireless network that may be used to determine whether a particular wireless network meets one or more criteria for association with a station. The quality estimation may be based on a load quality of a basic service set (BSS) of an available wireless network and/or one or more wide area network (WAN) metrics associated with the wireless network. A station may evaluate such load quality and WAN metrics prior to association, and/or after association with a wireless network.
Abstract:
A method for inter-frequency cell reselection by a wireless communication device is described. The wireless communication device camps on a serving cell. An evolved multimedia broadcast multicast service (eMBMS) service provided by a neighbor cell is discovered. Inter-frequency parameters of the neighbor cell are measured. It is determined whether to perform an inter-frequency cell reselection based on one or more inter-frequency cell reselection factors. An inter-frequency cell reselection to the neighbor cell is performed.
