    Abstract: A method and apparatus for diagnosing an engine system are provided. An apparatus for diagnosing an engine system including a continuous variable valve duration (CVVD) apparatus according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention may include: an accelerator pedal position detector configured for detecting a position of an accelerator pedal; a brake pedal position detector configured for detecting a position of a brake pedal; a vehicle speed detector configured for detecting a speed of a vehicle; an intake pressure detector configured for detecting an intake pressure; and a controller configured for determining whether a fuel cut condition is satisfied and determining whether the CVVD apparatus is in a failure state when the fuel cut condition is satisfied.

    Abstract: A valve opening and closing timing control apparatus includes a drive-side rotational body, a driven-side rotational body, an intermediate lock mechanism which selectively switches between a lock state where displacement of a relative rotational phase of the driven-side rotational body relative to the drive-side rotational body is restrained in an intermediate lock phase and an unlock state where the lock state is released, and an electromagnetic valve. At a time of predetermined operation of an internal combustion engine, a value of the drive current is set as a boundary current, and the value of the drive current to be set as the boundary current differs, by a predetermined value, from a value of the drive current at a time when the unlock state was switched to the lock state due to the change of the drive current.

    Abstract: In a control device and a control method for a variable valve timing mechanism according to the present invention, the rotational phase of a camshaft is measured based on the cam angle signal and crank angle signal upon receiving each pulse of the cam angle signal, and the rotational phase change over time within a period of the cam angle signal is measured based on the motor angle signal. It is decided whether the cam angle signal and/or crank angle signal has a prescribed pulse pattern at a diagnostic timing that comes after the last pulse of the cam angle signal. When this decision result is positive, it is then decided whether the motor angle sensor operates normally or abnormally based on the rotational phase and the amount of rotational phase change that are measured when the last pulse of the cam angle signal is received before the diagnostic timing.

    Abstract: A control unit for an internal combustion engine is configured for suppressing knocking phenomenon with reduction of overlap, while maintaining an opening timing of an exhaust valve at the time of low-rotation, high-load state. A valve opening/closing timing control apparatus includes a phase adjustment mechanism configured to vary a relative rotational phase between a driving side rotary body rotatable in synchronism with a crankshaft of the internal combustion engine and a driven side rotary body rotatable together with an exhaust cam shaft. After an opening timing of the exhaust valve, an advancing operation is effected for displacing the relative rotational phase in the advancing direction relative to the opening timing.

    Abstract: A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine is configured to: open a waste gate valve if switching operation modes from supercharged lean burn operation to stoichiometric burn operation and if it is necessary to decrease an air amount; control an exhaust variable valve train so that, during a response delay period accompanying the waste gate valve being opened, a first valve opening period EX1 and a second valve opening period EX2 are set and the second valve opening period overlaps with a valve opening period IN; control a fuel injection valve so as to inject fuel of an amount necessary to realize the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio under a stoichiometric requested air amount during the response delay period; and control the second valve opening period EX2 of the exhaust valve so that, during the response delay period, the air amount comes close to the requested air amount.
