    Abstract: A home appliance and home appliance system are provided which enable a portable terminal not to recognize an acoustic signal sound corresponding to product information output by the home appliance as noise. Thus, the acoustic signal corresponding to product information output by the home appliance may be transmitted to a service center through the portable terminal. The home appliance may include a controller that sets a dead time at a predetermined interval of time with respect to a signal corresponding to product information to avoid a noise detection section of a portable terminal, a converter that converts the signal into an acoustic signal of a predetermined band, and a sound output device that outputs the acoustic signal as sound.

    Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for receiving and generating an image data stream including a three dimensional (3D) image. The method of receiving an image data stream includes receiving an image data stream including at least one of two dimensional (2D) and 3D image data periods; extracting local 3D image parameters, which are parameters of each image data period, from the image data stream; and restoring at least one of 2D and 3D images by using the local 3D image parameters. In the method, each 3D image is composed of at least one of a base image and an additional image, and the local 3D image parameters include stereoscopic arrangement order information representing an arrangement order of the base image and additional image of the 3D image.

    Abstract: A robot cleaner including a suction hole to suction dust, a blower to generate a suction force to suction the dust, a dust collector to receive the dust suctioned by said suction force through the suction hole, and a rotating brush to sweep up and collect the dust into the dust collector through the suction hole by a drive force of the rotating brush. The dust collector includes a backflow preventing member movable between an open position and a closed position. The backflow preventing member is pivotably rotatable in an air suction direction by the suction force of the blower to the open position and is adapted to return to the closed position to prevent the dust in the dust collector from being discharged through the suction hole upon stoppage of the blower.

    Abstract: Methods of controllably creating three-dimensional (3D) combined-flow-interface patterns in multi-lane fluidic devices, and systems, apparatuses and software therefor. In one example, the 3D-pattern is created and varied as a function of one or more of the geometry of the inlets to a main fluidic channel in which the 3D-pattern is formed, the Reynolds number of the flows, the dimensions of the main fluidic channel and the inlets, and the spacing of adjacent inlets. In one embodiment particularly disclosed, differing 3D combined-flow-interface patterns are created using a three-lane fluidic device having a fixed inlet geometry. In another embodiment particularly disclosed, differing 3D combined-flow-interface patterns are created using a five-lane fluidic device having a fixed inlet geometry that can be used to effectively mimic variable inlet geometries.

    Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method for efficiently and dynamically allocating a bandwidth on a Time Division Multiple Access-based Passive Optical Network (TDMA PON). The dynamic bandwidth allocation apparatus for uplink data transmission of a plurality of Optical Network Units (ONUs) including a plurality of class queues corresponding to Transmission Container (T-CONT) types, the plurality of ONUs connected to an Optical Line Terminal (OLT) on a Passive Optical Network (PON), includes: a class queue information storage unit storing information regarding a bandwidth allocation period and an allocatable bandwidth amount for each T-CONT type; an allocation check table unit checking the bandwidth allocation period for the T-CONT type received from the class queue information storage unit, and determining an allocatable bandwidth amount for the T-CONT type; and a bandwidth allocation unit allocating an uplink bandwidth to the T-CONT type with reference to the bandwidth allocation period and the allocatable bandwidth amount for the T-CONT type, and re-allocating to each ONU an uplink bandwidth remaining after allocating a total uplink bandwidths to all T-CONT types.

    Abstract: A system and method for diagnosing a home appliance are disclosed. The home appliance outputs product information as a predetermined sound signal, and transmits the sound signal to a service center of a remote site over a communication network, such that a service technician of the service center can easily check a current status of the home appliance. When a diagnostic server of the service center analyzes the sound signal of the home appliance, it selects a plurality of preamble candidates and can effectively and correctly detect data using weights, so that it can quickly diagnose a faulty operation of the home appliance. An erroneous data analysis and its associated erroneous diagnosis are prevented, so that the diagnostic system provides a service for more correctly diagnosing a faulty operation of the home appliance and also increases user satisfaction and reliability of the home appliance.
