Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed towards switching the primary cell in a carrier aggregation scenario to improve performance. Measurement data of a mobile device (user equipment) is evaluated with respect to one or more various criteria such as cell carrier bandwidth, cell carrier load, cell-related capability and other carrier data (e.g., dynamic spectrum sharing versus clean, time division duplex or frequency division duplex), and others. Device conditions such as overheating can be considered as well. The evaluation results in a ranking of primary cell candidates. If a more optimal primary cell (candidate) is available, the primary cell in the carrier aggregation combination is switched to the candidate that is ranked the highest. Switching can be relatively very fast, such as based on already existing layer-1 (L1) and/or layer-2 (L2) measurement data. Layer-3 (L3) measurement data also can be obtained on demand, for example, to use in the evaluation.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, transmitting a first value for a first parameter to a first user equipment, wherein the first parameter pertains to a first number of scans to be performed by the first user equipment to detect a first signal having a first frequency within a first frequency band as part of a first scanning procedure, and transmitting a second value for a second parameter to the first user equipment, wherein the second parameter pertains to a first amount of time that the first user equipment is to wait between the first scanning procedure and a second scanning procedure, the second scanning procedure pertaining to detection of the first signal having the first frequency within the first frequency band. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, detecting initiation of a service associated with a UE, where the service comprises an OTT voice/video call, facilitating, for the service, activation of an end-to-end network slice between a core network and the UE, detecting a RAT switch determination for the UE, where the RAT switch determination relates to communicative coupling of the UE with a second network node, and where the second network node is associated with a second RAT different from the first RAT, responsive to the detecting the RAT switch determination, determining whether the service is ongoing over the end-to-end network slice, and, based on a determination that the service is ongoing over the end-to-end network slice, preventing the UE from communicatively coupling with the second network node until the service is determined to be completed or until the end-to-end network slice is released. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: Adaptive pairing of an access point (AP) slice with other computing resource slices is disclosed. Pairing of an AP slice can comprise pairing to a radio access network (RAN) slice and/or to a network core component (core) slice. The pairing can be based on end point device information, AP environment information, user preference information, and state information for a RAN and/or CN slice. Coordinating or synchronization of AP, RAN, and/or core slices can enable streamlining of migration of a device from an AP component to a RAN component. Moreover, AP slice coordination can enable efficient use of network computing resources tailored to needs of devices connecting to an AP device. A determined pairing, e.g., AP-core, AP-RAN-core, RAN-core, etc., can be modified before provisioning or after provisioning in response to changes in device demands and/or AP state/environment.
