摘要: An information processing system includes a device for recording data, a device for generating browsing data, a device for storing the browsing data and data in association with each other, and a device for displaying the browsing data. Corresponding data are retrieved from the displayed browsing data. When the data is non-visible such as audio data, a still image input unit or a video input device is used to create browsing data. Also, upon creation, updating or deletion of data, the browsing data are automatically created, updated or deleted respectively. When the data is AV data, browsing data is created based on the information detected by a scene change point detector and a volume detector.

摘要: An apparatus for and a method of measuring at least one painted layer formed on a sample to be analyzed, which sample may be, for example, a galvanized steel including a substrate having the painted layer formed thereon with or without an intervention of a primer coated layer. In the practice of the invention, radiation is directed onto a surface of the painted layer so as to excite the sample. The intensity of resultant Compton scattering rays, the intensity of resultant fluorescent X-rays emitted from zinc contained in a plated zinc and the intensity of resultant fluorescent X-rays emitted from strontium contained in the primer coated layer are measured, and also the absorption of the fluorescent X-rays are taken into consideration, to provide a basis for calculation of the amount of paint coating forming the painted layer. In this way, the amount of primer and paint material both applied to the galvanized steel can be easily measured on a non-destructive basis.

摘要: A reflection type liquid crystal apparatus comprising a liquid crystal panel (26) composed of a pair of first and second opposed plates (30, 32) for accommodating a liquid crystal (34) therebetween. A reflecting layer (28) is provided in the inner surface of the second plate, and the first plate is transparent. A common electrode (36) is provided in the first plate, and picture electrodes (38) are located in the second plate. A beam splitter (24) is located in front of the liquid crystal panel (26) for supplying polarized light to the first plate and for selectively transmitting polarized light emerging from the liquid crystal panel (24). The liquid crystal (34) comprises a nematic liquid crystal material having a positive birefringence and arranged in a homogeneous orientation with a constant director (n). This arrangement being such that incident polarized light is propagated in the liquid crystal in a double refraction mode with a first birefringence value and the emerging polarized light thereof is substantially transmitted by the second polarizer means (24) when a voltage is not applied to the liquid crystal; and incident polarized light is propagated in the liquid crystal in a double refraction mode with a second birefringence value smaller than the first birefringence value and the emerging polarized light thereof is not substantially transmitted by the second polarizer means (24) when a voltage is applied to the liquid crystal.

摘要: A method of fabricating an optical switch including a stationary support member, a movable support member, and at least one pair of optical fibers, the pair of optical fibers being supported on the stationary and movable support members, respectively, so that an optical path between optical fibers is changed by moving the movable support member. The method comprises the steps of preparing a guide with V-shaped grooves, securing at least one optical fiber element on the surface of the guide, bridging and fixing the guide on the stationary and movable support members, and separating the guide along at least a line extending between the stationary and movable support members. Thus, the guide and the optical fiber element is separated into a first part supported by the stationary support member and a second part supported by the movable support member, to constitute the optical switch having at least one pair of optical fibers.

摘要: An apparatus for mounting and demounting a lid of a vessel on and from a body thereof. The lid and the body are fastened to each other by a plurality of stud bolt and nut assemblies. A turntable is supported on a sling to be fixed to the lid, for turning movement in a horizontal plane about a vertical axis passing through a center of the lid. A plurality of operating units are supported by the turntable and are arranged in circumferentially spaced relation on a circle having a diameter equal to that of a pitch circle of the stud bolts. Each of the operating units includes a device for transporting the nuts to and from the stud bolts, and a device for attaching and detaching the stud bolts to and from an end flange of the body of the vessel. A positioning arrangement is provided for moving the turntable in the horizontal plane relatively to the sling so as to bring the operating units into vertical alignment with the stud bolts.
