    摘要: An imaging device includes an image receiving surface configured to move in a process direction in the imaging device. A plurality of printhead arrays are arranged to deposit marking material onto the image receiving surface. Each printhead array includes a plurality of printheads arrayed in a cross-process direction across the image receiving surface. Each printhead array includes at least one stitch line corresponding to a position along an axis parallel to the cross-process direction where an end of one printhead in the printhead array aligns with an end of another printhead in the printhead array. The at least one stitch line of each printhead array is offset a predetermined distance in the cross-process direction from the at least one stitch line of each of the other printhead arrays.

    摘要: A registration system suited to use in an imaging system, such as an inkjet printer, includes a first measuring device, such as an encoder, which provides information for monitoring a speed of a moving image receiving surface of the imaging system, such as a paper web. A second measuring device, such as a second encoder or a tension measuring device, provides information for monitoring a tension in the image receiving surface. A control system determines an actuation time for one of two marking stations, based on the information from the first and second measuring devices. This enables a registration of images applied to the image receiving surface by the two marking stations to take into account both changes in speed of the web and changes in tension in the web.

    摘要: An ink jet printer has a print head with partial nozzle redundancy. All of the nozzles are used for printing, but at a less than maximum available ejection output. When a failed or impaired nozzle is identified, the normal ejection output is increased for neighboring nozzles, so that pixels to be printed by the impaired nozzle are printed by neighboring nozzles at previously blank pixels. Printing pixels by neighboring non-failed nozzles mitigates the visible effect of the nozzle failure and prevents loss of productivity.

    摘要: Disclosed is a color printer including an image bearing member having an imageable surface for movement along a preselected path, at least a first imaging assembly for forming sets of multiple black toner registration marks on different areas of the imageable surface, and for forming second sets of multiple non-black toner registration marks corresponding respectively to black marks in each set of the first sets of black marks so as to create a series of sets of multicolor registration marks. Each of the second sets is formed thus in accordance with a predetermined different condition of image misregistration relative to the corresponding first set of black toner marks. The color printer also includes a light source for producing a wide area beam (WAB) to illuminate each set of the series of sets of multicolor marks, and a wide area beam (WAB) sensor for measuring scattered or diffuse light reflected from each set of the illuminated series of sets of multicolor marks, and for producing an actual light reflectance measurement value from each such illuminated set. The printer further includes a comparing device for determining a degree of actual image misregistration by comparing each of the actual light reflectance measurement values with a stored predetermined registration offset value corresponding to a predetermined condition of image misregistration for each illuminated set of multicolor marks. Mechanisms are included in the printer for adjusting an imaging parameter of an imaging assembly responsively to the determined condition of actual misregistration so as to correct for the determined actual misregistration.

    摘要: An acoustic scavengeless assist (ASA) development apparatus, and a multicolor image reproduction machine including such a development apparatus. The (ASA) development apparatus includes a biased vibratory section having a piezoelectric member and a donor member, as well as, a development electrode section, for presenting toner particles to latent electrostatic images for image development. The donor member is positioned within the reproduction machine and forms a development nip with a latent image bearing surface of a photoreceptor of the reproduction machine. Importantly, the biased vibratory section has at least a first conductive electrode formed therein adjacent to the piezoelectric member for effecting controlled vibratory toner release from the donor member, and a first bias for biasing the at least first conductive electrode. The development electrode section includes a set of second conductive electrodes and a second bias therefor, and is located between the at least first electrode and the latent image bearing surface, for enhancing toner particle release from the donor member, and powder cloud formation within the development nip for quality image development.
