Abstract:
The present invention is an automatic filter cleaning system which includes a solvent dewaxing filter which removes wax from a wax mix slurry and provides a filtrate. Status control apparatus is connected to the filter for affecting the operational status of the filter. Drain apparatus responsive to a control signal controls draining of the filter. Cleaning apparatus is also connected to the filter. A control network connected to the status apparatus, the draining apparatus and the cleaning apparatus controls those apparatus in a manner so as to allow selective changing of the status of the filter from an operational state to a down state to automatically drain the filter and clean the filter while the filter is in the down state.
Abstract:
A cycle of filtration is realized for liquids containing solids in suspension and a rotary filter, suited to realize and cycle, where the filtration is carried out by a rotary drum fitted with a filtering surface (2), immersed in a tank containing the liquid to be filtered (26). The phase of the separation of the filtered material deposited on the filtering surface is preceeded by a phase of removal of the material from the filtering surface carried out by using air blown from a slit and it is followed by a phase of washing of the filtering surface, carried out by a plurality of sprayers.
Abstract:
An improved screen plate for a pressure screening apparatus and a method for making the basket are disclosed wherein prestressed areas are provided at each end of each slot formed in the screen plate for minimizing crack propagation.
Abstract:
A method for recovering crystals from a slurry by supplying the slurry to a rotary sucking filter while rotating a cylindrical filter medium thereof to effect a sequence of operations of sucking filtration, washing and further sucking filtration, which method comprises conducting a sucking filtration while pressurizing the slurry side so as to maintain such a temperature and pressure that the filtrate of the rotary sucking filter will not reach a condition of supersaturation, whereby stuffing of the filter medium due to deposition of crystals from the mother liquor with increase in the slurry viscosity is prevented and the recovery of the crystals are realized efficiently over a long period of time. This method is suitable for recovering crude and purified crystals of terephthalic acid and can be applied also for the recovery of general crystilline products, such as hydroquinone, resorcin and so on from slurries of them.
Abstract:
Method and equipment for filtration of a suspension so that the suspension to be filtered is fed from a feed part (4) onto the filter face of a filter member (5), which moves relative the feed part. The pulp layer is formed on the outer face of the filter member and the filtrate flows into the interior of the filter member, and the pulp layer is removed from the filter member at the removing point. After the pulp removing point (17), before the feed point (4), one or several cleaning points (12) are provided wherein liquid is made to flow through the filter member (5) from the inner face of the filter member to the outer face. The flow rate of the liquid that flows through the cleaning point or points is adjusted higher than the rate of any liquid flow that may flow through the rest of the filter member from the inside-face side to the outside-face side.
Abstract:
An improved control valve for use in a filtration apparatus for treating waste product which comprises a tapered rotary cylinder, a rotary filtration cylinder disposed around the tapered rotary cylinder, a fixed steam injection pipe disposed above the rotary filtration cylinder, and a plurality of control valve members whereby the waste product which is conveyed inside the rotary filtration cylinder and is heated, and which collects in the holes of the rotary filtration cylinder is cleaned away by the spraying of the surface of the rotary filtration cylinder with hot steam through nozzles of a fixed injection pipe under the control of the pressure in a treatment zone between the tapered rotary cylinder and the rotary filtration cylinder.
Abstract:
A filter for separating particles from a flow of liquid comprises a filter drum (1) rotatably mounted about a substantially horizontal shaft and partially immersed into the filter liquid. The filter drum comprises a filter cloth (2) forming the circumference of the drum and having a plurality of radially extending sections between two drum end plates (3,4), one (3) of which is provided with a central opening through which the unfiltered liquid enters the interior of the drum. A drive means (9) rotates slowly. A belt conveyor (18) extends over the surface (23) of the liquid flow for removing the particles carried along by the filter cloth out of the liquid and falling down from the filter cloth in an area around the highest point of the drum. The filter cloth side edges formed as beads are clamped in grooves on the inside of the end plates (3,4), and the end plates (3,4) are fixed to each other by means of spacer members (D) spaced from the filter cloth.
Abstract:
An apparatus is disclosed for feeding a rotary filter with suspension by continuous flow to separate the solid and liquid phases of the suspension. The rotary filter apparatus includes at least one disc having filtering surfaces formed of a plurality of sectors fixed on a hollow horizontal driveshaft passing through the axis of the disc. The sectors are arranged to dip sequentially into a trough containing the suspension. The driveshaft serves for discharge of the liquid phase, and includes distributor means providing filtration, drainage and blowing stages acting sequentially on the sectors during the rotation of the discs. The apparatus for continuously feeding the suspension to the rotary filter includes (a) a suspension feed chamber provided with a suspension intake and two regulatable outlet openings; (b) two horizontal feed channels, each communicating with one of the outlet openings, each of the feed channels being disposed along a face of the disc opposite to the other feed channel, above the horizontal plane passing through the axis of rotation of the driveshaft, and extending horizontally no further than the axis of rotation; (c) each horizontal channel being formed by at least a side wall and a floor which is provided with means for regulating the distribution of the suspension over the corresponding surface of the disc by adjusting the distance between the floor and the corresponding face of the disc.
