Abstract:
A vehicle wheel having a rim, a hub, a plurality of spokes with at least one of the spokes having a first portion connected the rim and a second portion connected to the hub. The rim includes a spoke bed wall with a radially outboard surface and a spoke hole having a radially outboard entrance and perimeter edge. The spoke extends through the spoke hole and is engaged to the spoke bed wall by an overlie engagement at a bearing interface between a bearing surface of the spoke and the radially outboard surface to limit longitudinally inward displacement between the spoke and spoke bed wall. At least a portion of the bearing interface is laterally outwardly spaced from the first perimeter edge by a lateral distance of at least 0.7 millimeters.
Abstract:
A road wheel for a vehicle includes a central portion and a rim portion. The central portion defines a wheel axis and is formed from a first material. The central portion includes a plurality of spokes extending radially outwardly from a lug member defined by the central portion. Each of the spokes is interconnected to a link disposed at a distal end of the spokes. The rim portion is formed from a second material and defines a tubular wall being coaxial with the wheel axis. The rim portion including an interlock configured to receive the link for interconnecting the central portion with the rim portion.
Abstract:
A tubeless spoked wheel including a rim and a hub connected with wire spokes includes a rim that has no through-hole and is narrow in the vehicle width direction. A plurality of internal threads are aligned circumferentially in an annular raised portion arranged along the centerline of a rim. A connecting member that is hollow and has an external thread on its outer periphery is screwed into each internal thread. Each connecting member is pre-engaged with a distal end of a spoke in a rotatable manner. Each spoke bends at a position outward from the connecting member, tilts toward a hub, and has its basal end connected to a right or left flange of the hub with a nipple. The spokes are connected to the annular raised portion to narrow the rim in the vehicle width direction. The spokes are rotatably supported on the connecting members.
Abstract:
A non-pneumatic wheel assembly is provided. More particularly, a non-pneumatic wheel assembly is provided having a removable hub i.e., a hub that may be separated from the remainder of the wheel assembly. The hub may be reused and other portions of the non-pneumatic wheel assembly replaced as needed. In addition, the hub may be constructed from a different material than used for other portions of the non-pneumatic wheel.
Abstract:
The present invention comprises a wheel assembly for use on a tower of an irrigation system. The wheel assembly comprises a generally cylindrical wheel having a hub, one or more spokes and a rim to which a plurality of non-pneumatic tire sections are mounted to encircle and effectively cover the circumferential outwardly facing surface of the rim. The tire segments are typically solid and comprised of a resilient polymeric material such as polyurethane.
Abstract:
The spoked wheel comprises a rim, a hub and a plurality of spokes which connect the rim to the hub and are connected to the rim by means of nipples inserted in a corresponding plurality of drilled seats in the rim. The rim defines a concave outer cylindrical surface having a channel-like configuration with a bottom and a pair of flanks which extend from the opposing sides of the bottom of the rim. According to the invention, the rim includes a first rim part and a second rim part which are separate from one another, wherein the first rim part comprises a radially outer cylindrical portion forming the whole bottom of the rim and the second rim part comprises a radially inner cylindrical portion having the drilled seats. Preferably, the first and second rim parts are detachably joined together by threaded connection members.
